New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons game is the highest-rated cable TV program of 2010

Demonstrating yet again the remarkable TV drawing power of the new America's Team, the New Orleans Saints' 17-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons rated as the most-watched "Monday Night Football" telecast of the season and the most-watched cable program overall in 2010, according to ESPN.

The telecast, which was simulcast locally on NBC affiliate WDSU, drew a 13.0 rating, representing 12.9 million households and 19.1 million viewers, the network reported. That makes it the third-largest cable TV audience of all time, excluding breaking news programming.
The second most-watched cable telecast of all time is also a Saints "Monday Night" game: Last year's prime-time drubbing of the New England Patriots. The most-watched cablecast ever? Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre's "Monday Night Football" matchup against his old team, the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 5, 2009.
Monday's telecast marks the second television milestone of 2010 for the Saints, whose Super Bowl XLIV victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Feb. 7 was the most-watched program in TV history.

i'm still wondering why we have really been scrubbed from more MNF games after winning the SB. i know we were prime time in 5 games but i really don't want to count thanksgiving as like a monday nighter so call it 4 primes there then the opener on a thursday night. i would take that off and then it would be 3 primes. then take away the sunday nighters and it would leave 2 monday night real spotlight games for the super bowl champs. minnisota has 3 mnf and a tuesday nighter. and the crown jewel of slap in the facers the browns had 5 prime timers. go figure. and i know they estimate whos going to be the team that will be best or better the next season. just had nothing to do but beotch so you better like this.lol

Saints have been getting the most primetime games since 2006 actually, and if you ask me, i don't like em too much, it takes rest away from our players and we end up playing with either bangged up players risking more getting banged up or not healing in time to get the win..
If it's left up to me i would schedule 1 a year or less for Saints at least for a couple of years.

The one good thing about MNFer's (is that vulgar?) is that those of us outside of LA don't have to resort to watching the game on our laptops or going to some stupid bar where there aren't anyone, but Panther and Steeler fans there as well and having to listen to them the whole time. You would think that NC is part of PA with all the friggin' Rothlisraper fans.

I agree with nite, without primetime/special coverage games, I'm stuck watching choppy delayed feeds on my computer. When the NFL opens Sunday Ticket up to cable, thy won't be an issue. Until that 2085 event, I'm going to lobby for as many high profile games as they can schedule.

That was a great game. It moved along slow but kept giving nice twists and turns without the big plays. When they say chess match that game defined the meaning. Low scoring but high on entertainment.
