How to use Reggie Bush in the Playoffs...
Lets face it... 2010 has been one big bust for Reggie Bush.
The hype is that he's the most talented player on the field. I scream BS. Reggie is the ultimate tease player. He could be labled a coach killer if it wasn't for Brees. Still, he is what he is. So my questions is... how would you use him in the playoffs and/or how do you thing Payton will use him in the Playoffs. Happy New Years and everybody stay safe tonight. :bng: http://sportschump.net/wp-content/up...jumps-over.jpg |
Split back set with Ivory
Play action pitch outs Slot receiver End arounds Shovel passes Draws and screens All of these can work if they're called at the right time, and if he's open as a WR, Brees will find him. |
It's not that he's a bust, it's that we don't use him right. He'll never be an up the middle RB. Honestly, I don't think he'll be a good screen back.

However Reggie is used, HE needs to make the most of it.
|
Use him like we did in last years play-off game against the Cardinals. Arguably his best game as a pro...
|
Stand him on the sidelines with a naked Kim Kardashian - and then trade him for Steven Jackson...... ok sorry bout that... SEE ALL THE ABOVE.
|
Use him to block.
|
Not a bust.Just injury prone.
|
all of the above
|
I am not taking the bait again and starting a Reggie bashing...nope. But most plays with him lined up in a slot.

Give him some actual blocking to work with on punt returns, for one thing.
I re-watched that Arizona playoff TD punt return a few weeks ago, just for kicks, and the blocking was a thing of beauty...it was like an organized mugging out there...you had Cardinal guys ON THE GROUND trying to get up, on their knees, and Saints guys were standing over them like bullies, ready to push them back down again...and remember how everybody was raving about how Courtney Roby was running right with Bush, all the way, at the end? He was doing that to take out the PUNTER if he got close enough to make a play. Reggie really only made one guy miss him with an actual move, the rest was pure blocking. In fact it was a Youtube clip of "Reggie highlights" from the Cardinals game that I was watching. and the blocking on it was pretty incredible all throughout. There was one Reggie run where Nicks just creamed somebody, manhandled him completely as Reggie blows by, and we haven't really seen as much of that all year. |
In my opinion, Reggie gets jumped on pretty quick for the Punt Return problems, the coverage unit is far from stellar and bush has atleast 2 or 3 guys about to hit him when the ball arrives.
If anyone got chance to re-watch the saints vs falcons, bush's first punt return, he has 2 guys right next to him as soon as he catches the ball, the coverage unit needs to hold them up abit more and give him so more time. Yes reggie makes some dumb decisions, its not all his fault, but he needs to take what the defence gives him sometimes, rather than trying to hit the homerun everytime. Ivory as the back, reggie as a motion WR on and end around, get the D ends to stall for atleast a second, thats two players taken out of the play already, let ivory bull doze through, then let bush make someone miss in the open field, maybe an out route from the RB position. |
I still want to see him on a KO return.
Maybe with some initial space to work with he could work some magic... |

... but use him so the rest of the guys can get back to health. Line him up for PT's screen, Evans wide out play, anything and everything. If he gets knock out its not as much of a loss as the others, plus hes still really good. |
