"Ain'ts" nickname....
 

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but the nickname came from the idea, and slogan, "Ain't never going to the superbowl", right? Not only have we been, but we won. So now, anyone using this is either NFL dumb, or just plain retarded right?

But whatever it was it's ours and only true fans could use the word Aint's.

Yeah, to call us the Aints is pretty stupid since we won a SB. We're more like the Haves now..

The paper bags were ours first too, but all the sucky fans kind of stole that too.

We all know we're not the "Aints" anymore. The people that still use it have no new material, and THEY are the ones living in the past. We have a Super Bowl championship, you have an outdated nickname. We win. You lose.

It's from the 1980 season when the team went 1-15 and the fans wore bags on their heads.

So fans said the team was so bad they were the "Saints" minus the "S"

THE SUPERDOME WAS STILL SOLD OUT for that season.

And Breesfan27 is right, other teams who stink STEAL the paper bag idea from New Orleans.

That name is pretty much irrelevant now but other team fans aren't very creative with ribbing so they use what they know... I say let em.. we will always have the Superbowl. That name should not even bother you or anyone else..

We can now use it on the Failcons or FalcAIN'T'S How about that?

and if I remember correctly we beat the Jets in New York on a last second TD pass by Richard Todd and won something like 22-21. I remember watching that game.

HOWEVER...

And I should have taken a picture -- There were two Seahawks fans in 135, I, 1&2 who wore bags over their heads FOR THE ENTIRE GAME! Even I was impressed.

The front of the bag said, "AINTS" and the back said, "GO HAWKS!"

We got cursed by those two guys in those two seats!

I was sking at a place called Purgatory in Co about 15 years ago and I was wearing my saints jacket, getting off the lift some dip **** says " OMG your wearing a Aints jacket?"..then he laughs...my brother, knowing I needed anger management at the time says back to the guy " There AINT gonna be enough gauze to stop the bleeding on your broken nose!" the guy turned around real quick and took off...LOL

Just adding something to what Halo posted....yeah, but N.O.Saints fans have always been there even during the Aint's time and paper bag times.
Every year in the spring when that envelope would come in the mail about renewing season tickets, so many fans would go on and renew. I personally know of this.:bng:

As for us being the AINTS.....

AINT GONNA LOSE, AINT GONNA WEAR A BAG, AINT GOT AN EMPTY TROPHY CASE AND AINT GOT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!!

I do know this as well, THIS "AINT" YOUR FATHER'S, GRANDFATHER'S (or even your older brother's) NFL!!!

If I remember right, Buddy D did his sports cast wearing a bag during the season and that's when the fans started doing it.

uh uh. We didnt have Richard Todd till '84. But it was a last second pass.

I have memory fog, too.

And Buddy D. started the "Aints" nickname, when he whipped out the first paper bag.

Actually, Richard Todd was the QB for the Jets at that game. We still had Archie at QB.

Another side note about that game....the Jets had a moment of silence in honor of John Lennon (I think it was before the game started). This game took place on the 1st weekend after Lennon was killed outside his apt in NY on Dec. 8.
