GREGG WILLIAMS WITHDRAWS NAME FOR BRONCOS JOB
1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan reports that Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will withdraw his name from consideration for the Broncos' head coaching job.
Williams is said to have made the decision after discussing the situation with family and his players. He's done mostly a good job with the Saints defense, but Williams wouldn't be going into any interview on an upswing, as his defense got annihilated by the Seahawks Saturday. Former interim coach Eric Studesville and Giants DC Perry Fewell have already interviewed for the job, and Texans OC Rick Dennison and Jaguars OC Dirk Koetter will interview Tuesday. Former Panthers coach John Fox will interview Wednesday after having his Monday meeting postponed due to snow. GW loves it here...
That being said, we need to do alot better than our last performance, he needs more talent to work with. |
Glad to hear. I like having a HC/OC who is aggressive and plays with the pedal down and I like it in a defense too. I have always believed that you try to dictate your will and force your game on both sides of the ball. I tired of the bend but don't break defenses. I want us attacking at all times and living and dying by the sword.
Hope you stick around Gregg. Consistent coaching and scheme will only make us better. |
That Broncos position, too many unknowns I was certain he'd pass. Money is always a factor but if it's the main one then it's the wrong decision. Good for him. I hope he gets a lot of say so in the draft but we need a RB first and foremost. One that doesn't constantly break or become chinese drywall to the team. That one position killed us this year.

This is good news! Now lets get this guys some new players!
|
Upgrade OLB, DT, DE and watch this defense dominate in 2011.
Also, there's a kazillion free-agents out there that he can review and bring in his type players as possible starters, back-ups and special teamers. This is an attractive team to sign with so we have an advantage over most teams. |
I agree that with some upgrades in personnel GW will develop a dominate D in the coming year.

What is "Chinese Drywall"?
|
Nice! Defense in the draft, lets get some more "suck it" from greg!!!

GREG WILLIAMS
Just heard on espn radio that Greg Williams told Denver thanks but no thanks fo the job. So happy he's staying in NOLA
|
I knew he wasn't going there when the story first broke, just didnt' make sense for him to go there, that pantry is more bare than ours on D
|
well he did say during superbowl week that as long as drew and SP were on the other side of the ball in NO. then he would stay because he thinks they have something special.
|
That's very good news!!
|
He knows he is a few players from another ring in N.O. Good
|
Denver is way too cold and snow in the winter and it's awful to drive in. Very glad GW decided to stay in New Orleans where it's 60 degrees in winter lol.
|
He knows he has a good thing going in New Orleans. The defense had an overall good year but was exposed in the playoffs. A few more added pieces and things should work out fine. On the offense side a true running game needs to be found to take the pressure off the defense and to help get that big play offense rolling again.
I am glad for him he took his name out of the running in Denver. That situation is not very good right now. |

Glad he took his name out of the hat. We'll see what happens now. |
Benson and Payton can stop hyperventilatin'.
Seriously, the NFL is going through too much change lately even for my liking. Teams just have to chill out and get their teams better and not looking for the quick fix. Thank you Gregg for staying!:bng: |
i hope he's staying because what that last play of the year left in his mouth i pitty the defense in 2 a days next july. go gw go

New Orleans food does it's magic again :-)
I think he just re-ignited everybodies man-crush on him after this article. |

Give him a bit more speed at OLB and DE, and beef up the DT's a bit and this defense can be dominant. |
I think he has done a great job for the most part. I was curious why it didn't seem we were bringing it much against the Seahawks, but the game was a defensive train wreck. We had a few others this season where it appeared we were either out coached, outplayed or the combination.

Get the man a Strong Safety not named Harper; and a mammoth defensive tackle, and a big defensive end...
