Jus not gunna cut it...

Ok everyone is like we had a good year thanks guys yeah Who Dat all that.... But I mean Im not happy... not at all... U dont lose to a 7-9 team in the playoffs... I dont care if our 2nd string was in it dont happen... And Defending SB Champs and u let a 7-9 Pathetic team pretty much have there way... I was really dissapointed... To show ur a LEGIT team we should have won that game.... But we lost and We all no how good R Saints team is and We will be in the playoff hunt next year as well.... I dont wanna get use to saying Well maybe next year....

CheramieIII 01-12-2011 06:01 PM

I agree with your point because I'm still pissed off too that our defense allowed a 7-9 team to score 41 freakin points and we missed 19 tackles on 1 199 yard td run.

dizzle88 01-12-2011 06:01 PM

I understand and respect your comments.
Yes we should not have lost to the 7-9 team, but we have to put the loss behind us.
I am in no way blaming this loss on injuries, i don't like to make excuses but it certainly didn't help that our two leading rushers got put on IR a week before the game was played.
In credit to the seahawks, they exploited roman harpers weaknesses, they obviously studied where they could gain an advantage and they found one.
We were too inconsistent all year, i also made a comment in the live chat that even though i was disappointed in the loss it was probably for the best this year because we would not fair well in the later rounds.
We need to be more of a complete team and unfortunately, this year it did not happen, next year it will.
People are just trying to keep their heads up, as you pointed out, yes we shouldn't have lost to that team but at the end of the day, the NFL is any given sunday - How many colts fans do you think thought "Theres no way we are losing to the saints in SB" and look what happened.
We have to chalk this up as experience and keep it for our ammo, going into next season.:bng:

saintfan 01-12-2011 06:44 PM

I'm sorry. I too understand the sentiment, but injuries do matter. I DO blame the loss on injuries. No, not exclusively on injuries, but in large part. Players are 2nd and 3rd string for a reason. We were trying to gain a yard and a half at the goal line with a guy we signed 4 days before the game.

Nobody was more frustrated by that loss than me, but you have to have a raised perspective. It wasn't long ago we were like the failclowns just hoping for back-to-back .500 or better seasons.

That loss was more of a fluke than an indication. You can aim to win the super bowl every year. Every team does. Still, only a handful have a legitimate shot at it, and once the playoffs happen it's anybody's game.

We're going to be in the hunt for the next several years - and I'd bet real money that we would have beaten Seattle with Jenkins and Hargrove able to play.

Injuries DO matter, and so does a double-digit win total and a trip to the playoffs this year, just as having another real chance next year matters. Let's not end up like Cowboys fans. Appreciate what the team accomplished through much adversity this year. Hold management accountable when it comes to roster moves this off season, and enjoy that fact that for the first time in our long history we are perennial contenders for the big prize.

The Saints were 15-3 last year going into the Superbowl, Not some loser 7-9 team. Sorry Dizzle, you know your my buddy, but I'm kinda like AllSaints, I'm still pissed off that we lost to this team. We should have been able to beat them with all of our starters sitting on the bench. All the guys taking the place of our injured palyers are also in the NFL. They should be able to play NFL quality football.

I understand mate, it was kind of a bad example to use on my behalf. Yeah the loss stings because plain and simple, seattle are not a good team, i believe what affected us the most was the fact that;

All year we played down to the competition (i have no idea why)
We seemed to stop caring after we developed a 10 or point lead
Ivory, Thomas, Jenkins, Hargrove and Graham being out certainly wasn't a great help for us.
Never the less, we should have been able to beat the hawks, without those guys.
The one thing i am hanging my hat on at the minute is, hey we have two 11 or more win seasons, back to back, we have a SB championship and we are going to be a contender for years to come.
It stings but it will be a good experience lesson for us, and i am looking forward to the offseason transactions and draft picks.

AlaskaSaints 01-12-2011 07:24 PM

I watched that game again last night. Painful. Hit pause, rewind and pause again on a number of occasions and let me tell you...

THREE touchdowns were scored on Roman Harper alone.

I swear I hate to say this but that man was HOLDING BACK. I just can't figure it out.

Please don't ban me.

No one gunna ban you bro, plain and simple Roman Harper got embarrassed, his worst game as a pro. Its no secret that he was terrible vs the hawks.
Regroup, get a Running game (either deangelo in the offseason or young workhorse in the draft)
More talent for GW to work with. We will be fine.

Choupique 01-12-2011 08:43 PM

All this from couch potato's who couldn't run a 100 yards if their life depended on it.

I'm proud of the Saints for making the playoffs two years in a row. I'm embarrassed by the spineless, lame turncoat, fairweather fans, however.

Don't like the Saints? Move to Atlanta.

Just pissed off.

It has helped ease the pain for me to watch the freakin NFL REPLAY of this monstrosity with my Martial Arts Instructor. He pointed out to me how Seattle just snatched up the Chi (Life Force) and we just couldn't take it back. It actually had very little to do with talent. Gregg Williams needs to see it this way... and ok... maybe get Roman Harper a turbo wheelchair.

I'm gonna agree with you 100% on this. Please don't ban me for saying this, Roman didn't play ball like a starting safety should. Like Alaska said, he gave up three TD's all by himself. Without those TD's we win easy. I know we didn't have our starting FS, but those guys (Jenkins and Sharper) have been covering up his stinch the last two seasons. Tony Gonzalez abused him every 3rd/4th and short the first game, so I blame him more for that loss than Hartley. Look at the only touchdown Manning threw in the SB, Harper once again letting receivers burn past him. Yeah I know Young should have gotten a bump on the guy, but Roman just can't let a receiver get behind him like that. We are only has good as our weakest link. Pro-bowler please, he made it last season by default and our record. Kinda like how the Falcons have some many that made it this year.

By the way I'm about sick and tired of hearing that Lynch TD run all over the radio. Personally, I don't think it was that spectacular. Those guys weren't trying to tackle him anyway. They were going after the ball. If Lynch doesn't score they run out the clock and the game is OVER .

By the way did I mention I HATE the Falcons.

RailBoss 01-13-2011 12:46 AM

On any given day a bad team can rise and beat the odds it happens every week in The NFL. The idea that with Mac Jenkins out the Defense falls apart should be the primary concern for the Coach's in the off season. With that said we should have never lost to Seattle but that's what happened.

Hope ur not talkin bout me in that comment man... I live for the Saints I been with this team all the way back in the day... I was raised into Saints!.... and sry I expect more from my team.... im not ok with jus makin the wildcard to lose to a 7-9 seattle team that shouldn't have even been in playoffs anyway...

Banjojoe 01-13-2011 05:40 PM

You know what they say: Opinions are like belly buttons everybody's got one.

So here's mine: Several things caused the Saints to lose that game. In my opinion we could have let Harper give up his 3 touchdowns, let Lynch run his 67 yard touchdown, and basically let the defense play 3 quarters of uninspired football if we just could have run the ball when we needed to. If you take those 3 field goals, that Hartley kicked, and turn them into touchdowns - game over Saints win. That is what usually happens in Saintsville, but it didn't happen. Why? regular starters were out. Starters are starters for a reason - they can make a difference in a game.

All that being said the game is over let's put it behind us. We are starting to sound like the Vikings after last year's game. If we had a 7 and 9 team and went in there and won we would be ecstatic right now. Let's take the high road and wish the Seattle Sea Hawks (not the Sea Chickens etc.) the best of luck. Time to move on.

I pretty much agree. We had injuries yes, but our defense didn't show up at all. They put on a inexcusable performance.

really ? like the vikings ? Sry If.. If.. If.. You can say if we was 7-9.. hey but guess what we were 11-5.... not 7-9 seattle was 7-9.. and HORRIBLE.. and we got embarrassed ! The game shouldn't have been close...

neugey 01-14-2011 10:55 PM

The silver lining was the Saints kept the game within reach and still had chances to pull it out of the fire. Not like, for instance, the Vikings losing to Giants 41-0 in playoffs (after the week the Vikes beat us). Those are the losses you just can't recover from.

UK_WhoDat 01-15-2011 02:11 PM

I am as choked - no still more stunned as the next Who Dat.

But you know - the Saints overall record was very very good. Go on, compare to the other 31 teams o understand how good our season record was. Sure we lost some nasties. I think almost every team did too.

And I am still shocked by the Seahawks game. But in the cold light of day:
everyone will acknowledge that one man gave up a helluva lot of points on defence
offensively we had nobody left to play in the 2nd half
for whatever reason, no one goes to Qwest and waltzes out with a win
a play/penalty here, a play/penalty there was all it needed for the Saints to win
thee are no gimmes in NFL football. Regardless what we think, regardless what the line is. If it was that obvious we would all be rich.
