Any good free agents available to help us?
 

Those of you who actually have time to keep up with NFL personnel .... are there any good able bodies worth a look or two in the off season?

I'd like us to take a look at David Vobora from the Rams; he's only 25 and played well at strong side LB the last few games

not too hot of a FA class, heres a couple that could be of interest. some would be playing a lil out of position, but still would be an upgrade, ie; MLB to WLB, NT to DT, etc, etc

plus most of these guys will be re-signed....this is the best list i could find online......i didint check to see if it was accurate or not.....

Haloti Ngata would be awesome, but no way the ravens let him go. I would take Woodley or Hali next.

Greenway is no slouch either. Vikings best defender. Yes I said it.

Ngata would be nice but no way they let him go. i want hali and/or woodley. i dont see any of these guys getting away. not really a good free agent class

i heard that guy scott shanle is a free agent...maybe we should look at him

Ngata! No way he leaves Baltimore and he'd be really expensive, but worth every penny. Maybe the guy we should have taken at 2 in '06.

It was brought up in another thread, but I'd take a good look at Ricky Williams. Really.

How about LeRon McClain from the Ravens?

Big powerful FB/RB with some good run skills. His stats suffer from basically getting a lot of short yard work.

I've read he wants to be used on offense more. We can accomodate.

Kinda like a poor man's Jerome Bettis (Pittsburgh era).

Ricky back in Black and Gold... ha... that be a sight to see...

His lack of effort in pass protection skills would be a killer with Payton and the Saints...

Realistically I'm hoping for either Michael Bush or DeAngelo Williams as our starting tailback. I wouldn't mind Jerome Harrison for some depth. Re-sign both Moore and Nicks. Most of Albert Haynesworth's bonuses have been paid out and I heard he can be had for a mid round pick... I'd like to explore that avenue. I'd bring in Alan Branch for a visit just because he's a big body... maybe we can make a player out of him. Mathias Kiwanuka is a player I've always like since his days in college... he can add that pass rushing dimension we so deperately need on defense. With Chaney's emergence in Philly, Bradley would look nice in our linebacking core. I like the Barrett Ruud ... but will he be fine with moving outside? Eric Wright had an off year but he's a very talented corner... he could be an interesting option in the secondary. Finally... a KR/PR that can do it with consistency. I believe Porter can do it but he's just so fragile. If he can get his conditioning right, I'd like to see him at least return punts full time.


There are plenty of other very talented players like Woodley, Ngata, Greenway, etc. that their teams will not let them leave... not to mention they will be in the top 5 paid players at their position this coming offseason which we can't afford. The guys above I think we have a realistic chance of signing if we felt they could fit our system.

On McClain, he could be interesting. But Willis isn't being brought back so all the goal line and short yardage work could go back to him. I think he stays a Raven... though our back situation could make for an interesting decision if we went after him.

He isn't a Sean Payton type guy so... just won't happen.

I always really liked Paul Posluszny even thou he has had his share of injuries. The guy hits like a Mack-Tuck. I'd take good ol' Ricky W back any day. He is still on of my alltime favourite Saints.
