Saints make plans for Brees, Bush
Updated Jan 27, 2011 12:35 AM ET
MOBILE, Ala. New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has no doubt about quarterback Drew Brees' future with the franchise. The same can't be said of running back Reggie Bush. While not offering specifics, Loomis said Wednesday that a contract extension will ultimately be finalized with Brees. The Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLIV is entering the final year of a six-year, $60 million deal he signed in 2006. Brees is set to earn $7.4 million in base salary in 2011. "It's pretty clear that we're going to want to have Drew under contract for the long term," Loomis told me and co-host Jim Miller on Sirius NFL radio. "I know that will happen at some point. He knows that will happen at some point." Full article below. New Orleans Saints discuss Drew Brees, Reggie Bush contracts - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN |
brees 70 mill with incentives to 100 mill with another SB title or 2
bush 2.5 mill |
The writing is all over the wall with Bush. My prediction is he is done in New Orleans. I just don't see him taking the big pay cut that the Saints will want, my best guess is he hits the open market. He may have to eventually settle for less than what the Saints offer him, but out of pride my best guess is he signs with another team. As for Brees, I believe he is going to sign a contract that is way out of our imagination. I have him pegged at a 7 year deal around 160 million.

I have Brees signing a 4 year deal for 2 Billion Dollars.

i dont think we need bush and i dont see him taking a pay cut that relative to how hes performed. that being said, if he does and sticks around i will have a lot more respect for him and wont curse him as much.

Brees - first $100mil QB
I think Bush still wants to prove himself in New Orleans. His best season was with Deuce. Will we find a Steven Jackson/Michael Turner type back this year? |
They're definitely bringing back Brees he's an elite quarterback obviously so they have no choice. Bush is a decent back, but not a number 1. They'll probably let him go
