I'll be offline the rest of the weekend, so call instead.

HouYat 05-27-2011 05:54 PM

Ok, will do. Strato, sorry you can't be there!

Man I've been running around like crazy! End of school functions and wrapping up projects!

Things have now settled down but probably a little too late. All I know is that I'll be in that number when the Saints come marching into Houston for the Pre-season Game. I'm bringing the Turbo Dog Mike if you bring the tent!!

hey dude, PM me some contact info, in case we throw a party next time, and youre not on the site.

skymike 05-31-2011 06:38 AM

Smash, great pictures. Always great to hang out with you and Pamela. And Case' says thanks to P for the lagnaippe.

Bruz, I apparently still have much catching up to do in properly decorating my house. outstanding. Love boiling mudbugs, smelling them, and eating them.

Good to see everybody & enjoy a day goofing off. Kinda weird, but do yall realize we all met on the internet? Hey, I know lets invite a bunch of people from the internet over to our house--- hahahaha...

...normally, thats a bad idea. Just goes to show you how exceptional the Hou-Dats are. Shows you how exceptional our site is too.

Beastmode 05-31-2011 06:48 AM

Looks like you guys had a great time. Just think if there is a season! I'm hoping to start a HOU DATS east coast affiliate in PA when we finally move ha haa!

hey you too, Beastie. PM me some contact info. I'm smelling a last minute party.

HouYat 05-31-2011 07:23 AM

Thanks guys, I know we really enjoyed seeing everyone again. It was a lot of work but it was all worth it for the great time we had.

Thanks also to Smash & Skymike for helping out with the extra expenses. When you wake up on the day of a boil and find out that NO ONE has live crawfish, you go into panic mode. We were very lucky to find the one place that had them.

I've also been asked (actually demanded) by Ms HouYat to tone it down a bit and use a little less seasoning in the future. Mike, have your hands stopped burning yet? ;)

The only crawfish remaining available in the Greater Houston Area Sunday morning were in the ditches. I couldnt believe how hard it was to find what used to be a pest in my backyard.

My hands finally stopped burning, and also are back to normal size this morning. Fortunately, I remembered not to rub my eyes or scratch anything sensitive. But that did get me thinking, "If you could just eliminate the burning sensation, but keep the swelling aspect .... I could get rich!"

..."because you never know, when the moment...."

I'm gonna be so bummed if
there is a delay--- this is Houston's year for the Saints/Texans preseason game-- which means a big HOU-DAT tailgate party at Reliant. keeping fingers crossed. Draft Party is On, and check back here often.

I think we need to head over to Ragin Cajun one night & catch up over oysters.
I just got thru watching our superbowl video before work. check back here, Lynwood, and we'll see about having some oysters one night. Can you and the pretty lady get away on weeknights?

We should be able to with some planning. I sent you my cell# and I'll be watching the boards more frequently now.

I dunno....I thought they were great! My lips didn't burn a bit! Does that mean I'm tougher than average? ;) Good stuff! We had a great time!

Great hanging out with yall, Joanie. I knew already you'd be a great fit for the Hou-Dats, and also you complete a geographic circle for us (NELA), as we have everyone else from NWLA, N.O., Northshore, Metairie, BestBank, Lafayette, MS, SETX. And actually, there are even more in our group, every one of them interesting and friendly.

Mr M. looks like he can still play ball.
See yall again soon!

Srgt. Hulka 05-31-2011 04:34 PM

Wish I could have been there. Did someone eat a bug for me? LOL

skymike 05-31-2011 06:19 PM

I ate NUMEROUS bugs for you. My guts just stopped burning. it was great!

Yeah, Brandon, you guys definitely missed out this time. You could have come over after your family outing since we were still going until after midnight!

Thanks Joanie! Guess they weren't too hot for most since there were very few left by the end of the night. That's my gauge on whether they were too spicy! And nice meeting you guys!

Budsdrinker 06-01-2011 08:18 AM

Sorry I missed it. So you had problems finding crawfish? The HEB by me has them for $.99 per pound. Now you will probably make me get some this weekend.

All the HEB's near me had them for $.99/lb, but all of them sold everything they had on Saturday and weren't getting any more on Sunday. So don't wait till Sunday to have your boil. Note that their ads always say "While Supplies Last".

party at Johns house!

primadox 06-29-2011 04:18 PM

I'm late getting to this thread, but thanks again Bruz and Karen for another outstanding boil..."Mudbugs II" was a blast! We've been out of town and busy with stuff all month long; so much for summer being calm and relaxing, haha. Bruz, let me know if we can still kick in some $$ for the boil, since the bugs were harder to find than expected. And I think we still owe you rent for our chair, LOL...it actually made it home with us this time!

HouYat 07-01-2011 08:38 PM

Thanks Kellye, but hold on to your $$ till Mudbugs III! You guys will get your chance to contribute next year. We had another great time and met more great Saints fans! Trumpet Guy Bob was a big hit this year, Joanie & Marc made it to their 1st HouDat Boil, and we even met Mike's sister. And thanks to Smash & Pamela again for making the drive all the way from Austin again. Note to self for future boils....don't schedule one for a Sunday when everybody is sold out. Never had this problem before on a Fri or Sat.

RaginCajun83 07-01-2011 09:07 PM

Agree on the Sunday part cause it's damn near impossible for me to take off those days

skymike 07-02-2011 02:53 PM

-- Hello Landon... I've met you, right?

Been very busy lately, but am so happy to see yall keeping this thread going.

As some of you know, I've had a loss in my family, due to long term illness, not surprised by it, but you're never really ready. Its good that her suffering is over, and she now sings with my grandma in Heaven. Im feeling peaceful.

Let me add some humor to this post. (My sister had a very "wrong" sense of humor, believe me, she would be laughing at me right now.) I came down with Bells Palsy. No, its hilarious. Its supposedly fixable. So far, no progress. I think Case is freakin'.

Now I look as dumb as I really am. I cant drink without spewing. Eating is ridiculous. And when I smile, it looks like, "Hi, Im from _____ ." (fill in name of disrespected, low class community.) We MUST get pictures of me like this, in case it does get cured. Again, trust me, my sister would have a field day with this. You would have loved (or been offended by) her huge sense of humor.

Here's more. My sis and bro-in-law were from a country town near...
Atlanta. Yes, Atlanta. She didnt do much sports, but did call to congratulate me when the Saints won. But Bro-In-Law, is Falcons, back to Bartkowski, Van Note, etc. Of course, like all his neighbors, his real love is the Bulldogs. This year, after our loss to the Ravens, (Those of you at Ragin Cajun remember how upset I was...) Soon as I got home my phone rang... It was Edwin-- in his country-self voice, calling to laugh at me. "Hey there, Brother, I just called to give you some sh** cuz your Saints lost." I couldnt have had a better consolation.

Its great to have him around. We have so much in common, and even though he roots for the wrong team, he remembers all the same stories I do. (He was no Vick fan.) We both like sports and history and talking about what the hell is wrong with the world. He's a country boy too, like me. He's also the same kind of Baptist as me-- Loves Jesus, and not ashamed to say so. Doesnt mind a sip of Jack Daniels. Like me, his best friends are Catholics too.

He's been there the whole time thru my sister's long illness, no questions, 100% there. My family cannot figure what we did to deserve the best husband my sister could have had.

Not that we're ever gonna lose to his durn Falcons again, but now you'll know if we did, somehow, why there'd be a little tiny .001% of me thats not feeling all that bad.

Yall pray for my brother in law Edwin.

So, we, the Hou-Dats have some serious fun to have again, and nothing makes me happier than to know I'll see you all again soon, wherever, maybe at my house? If they dont settle the CBA, then we'll thump the little paper triangle football across my kitchen table, and we can argue on the correct way to make a hand goalpost? I personally, believe you should put your thumbs together---thats NFL sized. "Fingers together" is a college goalpost.

Everybody smile and remember there's always something to be happy about. See you soon!

skymike 07-25-2011 05:25 PM

Lockout over. Lets have some crabs.

So, Casey bought tickets to the Texans preseason game, and the tailgate will be on. Ed, I'll get a cooling device for Edvina, if you'll get the generator. Lets be comfortable this year. Some actual preparation will make that possible.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

SuperDome 07-25-2011 05:55 PM

Freakin' HOT!

I have tickets to the game and a parking pass in the Blue Lot...but Edvinna told me there is NO COOLING device outside of the stadium that can beat this heat wave this summer. Let's remember that were she grew up was just a tad cooler...
I want to carpool but the pre-game tailgate is questionable; it is just re-donk-culas with plus 100 degree temperatures on the blacktop of Reliant Stadium parking lots.
HOU-DAT!

skymike 07-25-2011 06:41 PM

where she grew up was a tad cooler---HAHAHAHAHAHA...

I got this. trust me. we're there. ice ice baby.

Budsdrinker 07-25-2011 09:04 PM

There is always the bar at the Holiday Inn just on the north side of the stadium.

skymike 07-29-2011 06:55 PM

stay tuned monday for the beginning of our Reliant Tailgate III planning.

thinking about what we'll need --- if you happen to have a couple things...

would like a tent, generator, box fan, cooker? etc.

lynwood 07-29-2011 08:33 PM

Haven't got the tickets yet but count me in! Let me know what to bring.

RaginCajun83 07-29-2011 09:49 PM

I'll be there just got to find tickets now
