I miss being able to dress up and walk with the parades when I was a kid. Our parents didn't have to worry about us. It has become to commercial. Know, I do still celebrate"Fat Tuesday", my daughters call my family and wishes them a "Happy Mardi Gras". My dad and granddad get a kick out of it. It's just not the same.

Sapper inspired me to say this:
All of you who were raised in N.O, and any town (like Mamou) that celebrated Mardi Gras when you were a kid, -- be sure and call your family and wish them a Happy Mardi Gras. You should get them back together, and get your kids into it, like you were. I hear you that some things have changed, but I say it can be what you make of it at your house, or with your family. And really, how can you miss some of those parades? |
