1 Attachment(s)
An ealier report stated that the New Orleans Saints had offered free agent tenders to three players they are hoping to retain throughout free agency. Those players are Lance Moore, Jeff Charleston, and Jermon Bushrod.
On top of signing defensive tackle Shaun Rogers and agreeing to terms with kicker Garrett Hartley, the Saints actually stayed really busy on Tuesday by offering tenders to 10 players in total. Not all financial terms for offers were disclosed by the team nor how long each was for. Saints players offered tenders on Tuesday:
Again, the NFL and NFLPA's Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on Thursday so it will be a shock if all or any of these deals get signed before then. That's excluding Hartley of course who is said to be signing his new five-year deal on Wednesday. Continue reading on Examiner.com: Only three? I love roman harper and all, but I'm hoping we get an upgrade at the safety position at some point.
|
I can honesty stay we need all these guys back to get back to the Superbowl. We can upgrade Bushrod position but I wouldn't let him go he's shows he can play in this league. The only player on this list that can walk is Usama Young.

Please please please cut Usama. Guy can't cut it at this level.
Wouldn't mind seeing us keep Roman, remember how long it took us to lock down a good safety? |
Unless a healthy Bob Sanders is coming in, Harper is staying in NO
|
I've heard Sanders linked to Jags, Giants, Bills and was to meet with the Jets today, if they could land him I'd be all for it just dont see it happening
|
All of them need to get signed now.
|
The sooner we get their signatures, the better. I'm in agreement with most of them. The group works well together. Why mess up the magic?!
|
I'm gonna let you guys "have it" each and every time Roman Harper gets left in his cleats next year. In the second half of the season I saw no indication that he could hold his own.

If we lost any of them we'd be ok finding replacements. They fit our system and may not do as well on other teams.
Most of them are safe. But if we lost any of them I think it would be a good thing because we can move on and try and get upgrades even. |
Harper had some bad moments, really bad moments last year but he is solid in run support and I'd still consider him better than the average SS.
Bob Sanders is a much better Safety than Harper is but I'd rather have Harper on this team. At least Harper plays almost every game for the Saints. How many games does Sanders play on average a year? Not many. |
good point Shack.

We start getting a little...even just a LITTLE but consistent pressure from the DLine and Harper and all his friends will begin to look a bit better.

He was the leading tackler in several of those games and played well in pass protection. He didn't look good in the Baltimore game and the playoff game, but no one else did either. He looked good otherwise. 59 tackles (7.4 per game) 3 sacks and 2 FF. We went 6-2 also. |
As much as we want him to be an Ed Reed type player, he isn't. I've never been Harper's biggest supporter, but he is underrated by our fans... including myself. Let's say we do want to upgrade, who exactly are we going to bring in here and give us Harper's production? You could honestly say he's one of the most consistent producers on our defense the past couple of seasons. We know he's not the better pass defenders back there... but SF makes a really good point. If we get more consistent pressure from our front 7, it'll help not just Harper... but Greer, Porter, and Jenkins too. Greer, our best corner, had a drop off in play also.
