New Orleans Saints Assistant Coach Given 3 Years Probation in Fraud Case
Saints assistant defensive line coach Travis Jones, who pleaded guilty in June 2010 to federal conspiracy charges in relation to two fraudulent loan applications filed by Jones, was sentenced Wednesday to three years’ probation and 100 hours of community service, according to sentencing documents obtained by ProFootballTalk.com.
Although Jones made only $86,225 from the scheme, which required him to make false statements in loan applications in order to obtain money that was never repaid, he is required to fork over $1,148,678 in restitution, which represents the full amount of the loans paid out in his name.
