The NFL approves modified rule changes on kickoffs; other rules changes
NFL owners meeting in New Orleans voted in favor of modified changes to the pro game's kickoff Tuesday, the most noticable of three approved rule changes this year.
Henceforth, the kickoff spot will return to the 35-yard line, where it was before the league moved it to the 30-yard line, and kicking team players can line up no deeper than 5 yards behind the kickoff spot. But the league scrapped that part of the proposal that would have moved the possession spot on a touchback from the 20 to the 25-yard line. That change mollified coaches who were both uncomfortable with an alteration to such a tried and true spot in the game...........READ MORE |
This some stupid s*&t why in the hell the league have to change some damn rules every year. The owners are making this a p*&#y league. Do they know there force fans to watch more college football. I'm not a big college football fan yeah I watch a lot of college but I don't live for Saturdays I live for Sundays. I mean do they even ask player what they want or do they just make all the decisions if your so worried about players saftey then why in the hell you want to add 2 extra games. I'm not even mad at the player I hope there is no football this year I hope the player drain there asses dry. BUNCH OF OLD BASTARDS

some day you will be old, too, Luda.
dont fear it, for you will actually be much smarter. how bout that "all fields must be green" rule.... hahaha... thats pretty funny. you know, I do wonder why our field is such a drap shade of green. I know they're going for "natural" looking, but a lot of natural fields are bright green. I'm spanish, so I like unnaturally colorful things. |
This isn't that big of a change, but I have to agree with Luda somewhat. There have been far too many 'Tweaks' to the game in the last few years. Most of it seems so trivial that it won't change the outcome of the game that much and it's just more stuff for us to have to memorize.
|
Yeah NFL you are so smart, cuz moving the kickoff point 5 yards forward will prevent all those extra injuries from an 18-game schedule.
|
Hasn't there been a rule change of some kind every offseason since that dbag Goddell been in office? Leave my football alone, why they keep trying to fix stuff that isn't broken
|
I hate change.
not real big on hope either. |

dont take me too seriously.
While I take exception to Luda's distain for the elderly, I completely agree that really, they just need to leave the game alone. The best thing about baseball is that it never changes. I didnt even want replay. But I know Im alone in that opinion. The game was just fine in 1975. We should have left it alone there. |
I don't have any think against the elderly. I have a problem with owner and these GM changing the game most of those owner are good people. I just don't like the way they are messing over the player when the player are the ones making you Billions and the player don't have a say so about there healty, insurance, past player and rules of the game but saying all that the NFL is in a lockout but the NFL is the only one going to make money on these guys at the draft but they can't sign a contract because were in a lockout.
|
Sure the players have a say on health insurance. They can buy it,
just like you and me. I know plenty of people who pay for their own insurance & healthcare. As for the lockout/contract dealings, I cant really say I understand the nuts and bolts. Does anybody here know the specifics? |

Basically, the owners want more money and players want to remain overpaid. |
