Former NY Giants LB Sam Huff says Drew Brees needs to "Shut his mouth"

“Drew Brees should keep his mouth shut," Huff said from West Virginia on Thursday. “We (he and his Giants teammates from the 1950s and 1960s) would put a target on his back. I don't understand all this crap. We formed it (the NFLPA). Kyle Rote (the Giants end), he did it and put it all together.”

The fact that he says at the end "I don't understand it" kind of makes his opinion look pointless. He's trying to judge someone on a subject he knows absolutely nothing about.

Drew believes in his convictions. He is an intelligent man and thinks that he can help.(I sure hope he's right) I just want everybody to be happy and I want to watch some Saints football.

I dont have a hard & fast opinion here, but my gut says:

-- Brees is right. It is not the responsibility of the current players to take care of past players.

-- but I'd like to see them do something for them anyway.

Huff said something telling. He signed for 5,000, which was more than his father ever made in the coal mine. If current coal miners made 1 million dollars, would they have an obligation to give money to past coal miners?

I dont know.

Its not anybody elses responsibility to take care you you, except you-- that's how I feel. I've always been responsible for me. Huff himself succeeded because he did good business, and apparently made good decisions.

But I'd still like to see them do something. They certainly have the means.

I guarantee somebody is going to blow 50 million dollars.

They've got to tell these kids, "You MUST put some aside." You cannot just go blowing it on jewelry and ho's." We may not be able to help you.

Sure wish this business crap would go away.

To Drew and everyone else ............ Those who do not remember past are condemned to repeat.

Drew Brees and crew really don't know who they are messing with, their money aint as long as the League nor the Owner's, they will get their name slandered and tarnished.

If this doesn't end soon i fear the league will muzzle Brees when/if the season start's back up he'll have extra heat on him and the ref's will look away as he get pounded into a bloody pulp and put out of the game forever.

It's just my thought on this, i think the league works quietly like a mafia sometimes.. be careful Drew.

Times change Mr. Huff, that is why you’re in the HOF your statue will not change jus like your opinions and you. Everything has changes the Offense the Defense the Special Teams the business everything. I respect what he has done but times change and Studebakers are not allowed in today’s game

It's well known that I'm down (for the most part) with the owners this time, which is not to say I don't see some validity in the player's point of view. Still, while Drew has irked a lot of folks by being so vocal in the current dispute, he is a class act who takes the lead and stands up for what he believes in. How can this be a bad thing?

Owners, Players it doesn't matter it's all about the Money! Big Money! Your Money!! What needs to happen is The Fanatics (Fans) need to unionize, without our money there is nothing to negotiate. Imagine the power of each teams fan union probably could be done all on-line. Think of it Jerry Jones, Al Davis, Tom Benson, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Halo all at the NFL bargaining table.

I'll take some money too. Since the lockout, Mrs. Brees doesn't get to live as luxurious as she did during the season.

The thing Huff is so mad at Drew about is because Drew said that the NFLPA shouldn't be responsible for retired players' money mis-management.

In other words, if the guy squandered his money on bad buisness deals, has 15 kids with 13 different women and owes child support and alamony, got into illiegal business acts and owes money because of a court ordered judgement, etc.

I for one, agree with Drew on this.

I have never heard of Sam Huff until he started running his mouth. The guys a HoF'er, but I feel he wants to toot his own horn and get his extra 10 minutes of fame before the world forgets who he is again. Screw Sam Huff!

we should reach out to sites of other teams and see if they want to band together.

each site could vote a rep... etc.
