Lockout Restored

![]() Mere hours after the NFL advised teams to open up their facilities to players and allow some basic operations of the football league year, the league may now be headed back for the lockout that was in effect for 45 days until ended by U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson. A federal appeals court held in St. Louis granted the owner's request for a temporary "stay" or hold to Judge Nelson's ruling that the lockout be lifted. The ruling by the appeals court came late Friday with a 2-1 vote and it included a rather lengthy dissent. No word has come down from the NFL yet as to whether they will fully reinstatet the lockout or not. On Thursday, the league issued a statement putting guidelines in place for how teams could work with players in the wake of Judge Nelson's ruling. New stipulations and guidelines were due to come out Friday as to how player transactions were to be handled. The 8th U.S. Circuit Appeals Court said that it would grant the stay while going through the process of considering the NFL's appeal of Nelson's injunction. Meanwhile, the NFL Draft continues Friday evening with rounds two and three. NFL Lockout restored as appeals court grants temporary stay - National NFL | Examiner.com |
