Yea... the way the Saints offense works Brees sets him up to get killed. Explains the increased dropped passes.
In fact, as much as the Saints throw the ball, I'm surprised we have any healthy WRs.

i love Colston but i cant see him lasting more than 4 more years. his knees are terrible. Hes not lighting in the first place

The Saints are having a very nice run with their current group of WR's, my guess is next year they may have to start retooling the position.

saintsfan1976 05-15-2011 09:01 AM

Told you we need another WR.

ArmySaintFan 05-15-2011 09:18 AM

Just curious.....what kind of FA will be available when/if it ever gets time to start signing them?

We already have some in the wings ... like AA, for instance.

AA comes to life in 2011, they can't hold on to him anymore. meachum or henderson will feel the pressure. they all get better for this.

Rugby Saint II 05-15-2011 06:01 PM

Colston should be fine. Most of his surgeries have been minor. If AA pushes the pack hard he could make everyone step up. I just want to see what Henderson and Meachum are going to do this year. Besides, we don't need to worry too much about the receivers because Payton is gonna' light 'em up with the running game.

I had microfracture surgery myself 3 years ago, was a pretty short rehabtime and I have not had any problem with my own injury since then, I know OL is a little different position compared to a WR but on the other side he got access to much better rehab opportunities. He should be fine and ready to go.

Colston will be fine, the normal bumps and bruises that come with skying over 5-0ft recievers.

And what, exactly has AA proven? I seem to recall a couple of injured seasons on his resume as well...

If Colston and Meachem are still hobbling, it will be catch by committee. Moore leads again just like in 08' when Colston was out, everybody else steps up: Henderson, Arrington, D.Thomas, Graham, Roby, Bush, Ingram, P.Thomas, Ivory, and Heath Evans. 2 - 5 catches each spread all over the place. Brees is the dink-dunk king which allows him to go up top when he gets ready. All of that made even easier with a running game. We don't yet have a clue of what additions take place through FA. No worries about the WR spot.

I always like to look at last years practice squad and camp hopefuls that showed promise, yet didn't make the 53.

Its possible that one of these two could fill in that 5th WR spot if necessary, they looked pretty good in camp, they may just need a little more polish and refinement.

Tanner, Andy WR 6-0 183 Midwestern State
Billings, Montez WR 6-1 181 Auburn

And I'm sure they have their eyes on a few more UDFA's and are ready to pounce once the CBA is settled.

I'll bet Payton is a pretty good chess player. He always seems to be two moves ahead on most issues. I would kind of be disappointed if we didn't see a new face or two, FA starters, on both sides of the ball. It would be extremely hard to remain the same, and still get 09' type results when every other team is upgrading.

Beastmode 05-16-2011 07:50 PM

I could see Tolliver getting a look, he's a project but he's big, good getting YAC, and a hometown favorite. It's not his fault he had a sub standard QB at LSU.
