David Thomas has endeared himself to New Orleans Saints teammates

David Thomas has spent the past two years working in the shadows of more high-wattage New Orleans Saints tight ends Jeremy Shockey and Jimmy Graham. But he certainly hasn't gone unnoticed in-house.
New Orleans Saints tight end David Thomas heads upfield as quarterback Drew Brees drops back during a workout Wednesday at Tulane as players work to stay in shape during the NFL lockout. Quarterback Drew Brees called Thomas "one of the best teammates I've ever had." http://media.nola.com/saints_impact/...ae77c21535.jpg And though Thomas, 27, is scheduled to be a free agent whenever the NFL lockout ends, Brees and Saints Coach Sean Payton have made it clear that he is a big part of their plans, especially now that Shockey is gone. "He absolutely is (more special than people realize). He's an unsung hero. I think the world of David Thomas," said Brees, who has become close friends with the fellow Texas native the past two years. They are planning to vacation together in Mexico next month, along with some other friends, before Thomas and his wife Kassidy welcome their third child and first daughter in July. "I think he's one of the best teammates I've ever had, because he's willing to sacrifice whatever it takes for the good of the team. And there's not a selfish bone in his body," Brees said. "He's as competitive as the next guy, but you never outwardly see any kind of disgust or bad body language. He's always positive. He's always thinking about 'how I can help the team, and when I'm called upon to make a play, I'm going to make it, whether it's making the key block on a run play or a pass play or catching the ball down the field or whatever it might be.' "I mean, the guy is just the ultimate teammate, he really is. I can't say enough about him. And I know that he's a big part of our plans in the future." Read More Here |
David Thomas is a great all round player rather than just a TE. Sean Payton often puts him at FB, and he makes key blocks there.
Very versatile player and has very good hands aswell, solid player |
I've hated him ever since he changed the fries.

That's awesome!! And, A-M-E-N! Natural cut fries? are you kidding me? idiot. |
I like the new fries! Much better than their original attempt.

Love this guy. Not a great run blocker, but gives you a lot of different options in the passing game. He makes some tough grabs and is a nice safety valve for Brees. I can see why Drew likes him!

I love David "Wendys" Thomas! A solid player. Can't wait to see the role he takes next season, now that Shock is gone.
|
I concur. Thomas is a solid all around player that will contribute adequately anywhere he is needed. He's a rare breed in a game ruled by egotistical, one dimensional, hotshots.
|
I can get excited by a Graham - Thomas lineup.
Now, let's get on with our regularly scheduled FOOTBALL! AKSaints |
A poor man's Dallas Clark. As others have said, he's a valuable piece of the machine. A very versatile player who creates a few mismatches.
