Billy what was the purpose of your post? What did you aim to get accomplished when starting this thread?

Shootin' down another arguement.......(WhoDat)
Quote:
1. Brooks needs to be ranked in the top 5 to justify earning his money. 2. He hasn\'t improved in the passing game. This post was also for WhoDat. It\'s clearly on the title. I don\'t mind if other folks comment, but it certainly wasn\'t meant to excuse Brooks from his fumbling. Nor, was it posted to start a war. |

Ok i just wanted you to acknowledge Brook\'s fumbling b/c the post does imply that Brooks is among the NFL elite, focusing on his completion % and ints. but ignoring the fact that he has committed 10 or so fumbles which certainly counts as turnovers on his part. That would certainly lower him on the list. I will still argue that he hasn\'t improved in the passing game enough despite his #\'s. Until last week Duece was carrying the load for our offense. When you have a RB that is racking up 100 yard games like Duece was, your passing game should do better than 6 passing TD\'s over the past 6 games before the Giants game. (yes i know that was a run on sentence)

seraph33 --
This post was only to show that in the PASSING game that Brooks is in the ELITE QB\'s in the league. At least as far as the NFL ranks them. If we are going to put our own spin on how the passer rating work, then I could bring up all sorts of stuff, like Brooks avoiding sacks, running the ball, etc, etc... There is no doubt in my mind that Brooks is NOT to the level where most of the other QB\'s are. Hoever, that was not my intent nor did I ever imply that. That\'s just the way some members read into it. I\'m not trying to fool anyone here. I\'m simply saying Brooks has indeed improved in the passing game. If someone doesn\'t agree.........That\'s cool. I don\'t expect everyone to agree. Just tell me why and we can talk about it or not. [Edited on 16/12/2003 by BillyC] |

Tired of this argument about whether Brooks is good or not. Most of those who watch the game be they fans, commentators, experts, or board-trolls all feel that AB is inconsistent; one week helping the team, the next week single-handedly losing the game for the Saints.
One-dimensional stats, and arguments that improvement in one facet of play (completion percentage) result in an overall improvement will not change that. Until AB plays consistent football, be it good or bad, he will always be regarded as a mediocre, below-average QB. This will continue despite the endless-seeming spin-doctoring to try (in vain) to convince other people to ignore what their own eyes and ears have told them the whole time. |

When looking at Brooks play this year, I see a QB that has improved drastically in the passing game. I also see a QB that leads the league in fumbling. I think the fumbling has overshadowed his improvement in the passing game. It\'s really ashamed that Brooks has had the fumbling problem this year, because otherwise, he\'s had a very good year.
You just don\'t throw 21TD\'s, only 8 int\'s, complete 60% of your passes, and have the best TD to Int. ratio by blind luck. People want to talk about Brooks being inconsistant, but those are the stats for 14-games. Passer rating reflects consistancy or inconsistancy in the PASSING game. So, I think it\'s off base to say Brooks has been inconsistant in the passing game. There is no arguement to be made that he has been inconsistant in the passing game. If there is, I\'d like to hear it????? Now, fumbling the ball, I will give you that. This has been a problem. These have cost us 2 games. These losses fall squarley on the shoulders of Aaron Brooks. It has also killed drives in other games. It\'s completely over shadowed anything else Brooks has done. I think the question is if fans believe Brooks can cut the fumbling out and still put up the numbers that he has this year. If you don\'t think Brooks can stop fumbling the ball, I\'ll have to ask why? I would also like a good logical answer?? It seems all anyone wants to say it that Brooks has been \"consistantly inconsistant.\" Yet, they don\'t say what he\'s been inconsistant at. Can someone answer that for me? Gator,
Let\'s see...................... I can talk trash with Gator, OR, I can wait for him to talk about something relevant to the subject at hand. I\'ll wait. |

Nice to see things haven\'t changed while I was gone. Billy, can you show me the stat for consistency? How about the one for opponents points off of turnovers?
You\'re unreal sometimes man, and b/c A) I\'m busy, and B) I really don\'t want to get back into this debate for the millionth time, I won\'t go dig up the quotes from you after the Tampa game. You\'re ready to bench the guy after the Tampa game, and then he plays well and you\'re posting stas about how he\'s a top fiver. Well which is it Billy? Of recent, your opinion about the guy has been about as consistent as his play. LOL. |
