Would you want Steve Smith as a Saint?

If the Saints lose Lance Moore to FA, would you want the Saints to sign Steve Smith?

Yes

No

WhoDat!656 07-09-2011 09:27 AM

Kinda new at some of this

Crusader 07-09-2011 09:37 AM

I voted no. I think he is over the hill and I rather se Arrington fill in or if we could get some other young stud that Brees could help develop. Smith gonna command a lot of dollars.

saintsfan1976 07-09-2011 09:39 AM

HELL

NO

Danno 07-09-2011 10:44 AM

I think Smith will be more expensive than Moore, so why not just sign Moore?

That's what I was thinking. If we can't afford to resign Moore, how in the world wold we afford to hook Smith...

And for what it's worth, my gut say no, but I wouldn't be angry about it either.

jcp026 07-09-2011 12:56 PM

I'd pick him up, but I wouldn't trade anything to get him and I wouldn't pay him very much money.

GeauxForMore 07-09-2011 04:39 PM

Didn't he say he did want to be a number one reciever anymore. I wonder if he is willing to give up that number one receiver money.

CheramieIII 07-09-2011 04:46 PM

I agree with Saintsfan. The only reason I voted no was because HELL NO wasn't an option.

|Mitch| 07-09-2011 05:24 PM

I voted negative; he can't have much more left in the tank if any

TheDeuce 07-09-2011 06:06 PM

Let's see... He's oft-injured, production on the decline, has involved in several fights with teammates (didn't he break a guy's jaw?), and will cost more. Pass, f Steve Smith.

spkb25 07-09-2011 07:15 PM

No for me Too

the-commish 07-09-2011 08:17 PM

I voted NO. I don't think we need him. Hopefully, Adrian Arrington steps up in the slot if we lose Lance Moore (I think Loomis will re-sign Moore, however)

Punchy boy would fit in better with Tampa IMO. Lock him in a room with Talib and see who comes out alive.

Crusader 07-10-2011 04:06 AM

I would actually rather have the Saints sign T.O. T.O would be on his best behaviour because it would be his best and last shot at winning a championship.

Saint_LB 07-10-2011 04:09 AM

I will say no if we are talking about the Carolina Steve Smith. I'm pretty sure that the NYG Steve Smith could be a FA...and this guy would look pretty good in Black & Gold.

Ashley 07-10-2011 06:27 AM

Screw that guy!

whodatylor 07-10-2011 06:38 AM

HELL NO hes old, hes 32 u will only get about 3-5 more years out of him. give more the contract he deserves!!!!

whodatylor 07-10-2011 06:38 AM

sorry Moore

spkb25 07-10-2011 07:18 AM

I definitely do want to lose a guy like LM. He always seems to make a play. I just like having him on our team

papz 07-10-2011 08:49 AM

Do I want Steve Smith on this team? Hell yea. He's immensely talented and one of the best receivers in the league when healthy.

Will and could he play for the Saints? No. We aren't the Yankees or Redskins to just piss money away.

QBREES9 07-10-2011 08:47 PM

First off we won't lose Lance Moore to FA. He the WR on the team hands down. Maybe has the best hands on the team.

Just PAY THE MAN !!!!! because if they don't. They'll be sorry.

Luda34 07-11-2011 10:40 AM

No I would rather have Lance Moore than Steve Smith.

Ashley 07-11-2011 10:53 AM

Jesus NO WAY, the guy is nothing but a ass. I don't care how good he was....Y'all read that right (was). He's a dink. period.
Just like Crusader said "I rather see Arrington" . Me too Crusader!!

darstep 07-11-2011 11:10 AM

I hope the Saints FO has Moore very high on their priority list, and give him the Lterm deal he has earned. But if we lose Moore, we don't have another quick-seperator-posession guy to replace him...Smith has the same skill set but would demand way more money than we need to pay for his services. Both Moore and Smith are hands guys and have the rare ability to slow the game down and play in the moment. That's probably where the comparison comes from. Smith is a player, and a vet, he would make the adjustment just fine if he needed to, and would love to have a ring to show for his efforts. Moore would give us all we need for less money, and has a MUCH better attitude.

jeanpierre 07-11-2011 04:38 PM

We have a comparable player in Reggie Bush already...

saintfan 07-11-2011 04:48 PM

Steve Smith, while I agree that he can be an ass, is a competitor. He is the biggest reason why the Panthers made it to the Superbowl.

I don't think I'd want to trade Lance Moore for him, but if it were feasible to get him in here we should definitely take a look.

Of course it isn't feasible IMO, but if it were, while my gut says no, I think we'd be foolish not to explore it.

exactly. thats reason enough.

I dont care if he still has a tiger in his tank. he's a jerk, and I dont want him. I'd rather develop one of our young-uns.

Character & ego-check, has been probably the most overlooked of our secret recipe for success.

I really didn't think all that stuff mattered much, until I saw the results of it.

You still need talent, but I'll take a B-plus talent with A-plus character over an A-plus talent with B-Plus character.

skymike 07-12-2011 06:10 PM

Character matters in everything. You cannot succeed longterm without it. Right and wrong matter. You might thrive for a while, but you're coming down without it.
