Sadly, not yet. The players have a meeting in about 45 minutes, the lawsuit still has to get figured out, and the Union has to (most likely has to anyway), well, reunite. LOL

We should know something definitive soon though. :bng:

One part done. Now players have to agree. Let's get it going and grab our championship.

Wouldn't celebrate yet ff. The players could send this right back to the table and could play some serious hardball right now. Let's hope...

I'd like to think they aren't nearly dumb enough to do that, but here we are, right? I know there are a few, but surely...SURELY...even those few can look beyond the trees to see the forest...so to speak?

:ohno:

I'm hearing that the owners changed some of the stuff in the CBA without the players knowing about it. So it looks like the players are going to vote no. But hey it's rumors.

Also don't think the players like the "pushy" nature of the move by the owners. That's the kind of behavior to make this go on longer. Why, oh why, after all the progress the owners and players have made in the past few weeks.... why would the owners try to "pull a fast one" PR move? They should have met jointly with the players.

Not only does the resolution of the lawsuit have to be figured out, but, from the players' perspective, that resolution has to be at least neutral... in other words, the owners and players have to agree that de-certifying the NFLPA as a bargaining unit can not be declared as illegal. The players want to keep that arrow in their quiver in case they need it in 2021.

jnormand 07-22-2011 12:26 AM

I'm not getting my hopes up for anything. This could go on and on and on. Personally, I feel like Demaurice Smith is going to try to take a stand and make the small things even bigger. He's going to treat it like he is fighting for the players when he is just trying to make a name for himself as a savior.

Just my opinion.

SmashMouth 07-22-2011 09:08 AM

The players' union, NFLPA, is decertified. So there is no vote for the players. No union... no vote! They would have to recertify the NFLPA, etc, etc, etc ... and how long does that take?

Well, they decertified pretty darned quickly. You would think, with all the time that the negotiations and mediation has taken up, they would have been prepared to recertify the NFLPA just as quickly in order to get a deal signed when the time came.

If it takes more than a matter of a few days, in my opinion, someone dropped the ball. They should have been ready to recertify.
