What is Heath Evans So Upset About?
Roughly his salaries since he joined the NFL:
Seattle: 2001: 209,000 + 452,000 signing bonus 2002: 300,000 2003: 389,000 2004: 628,000 Miami: 2005: 325,000 New England: 2006: 585,000 + 25,000 signing bonus 2007: 595,000 + 250,000 signing bonus 2008: 730,000 New Orleans: 2008: 730,000 + 600,000 signing bonus 2009: 745,000 2010: 755,000 (1 million was guaranteeed. Not sure if he made the incentives to make an extra 500,000) Total: 5,991,000 + 1,327,000 7,318,000 He's no superstar like Brees. He is an excellent player to be sure, but he's no superstar. 7.3 million, in salary, which doesn't include the other perks I am certain NFL players receive. I like you Mr Evans. I really do. But I think you should STFU sir. :brood: |
What did he say?

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=6792552 Of course he's not specific -- none of the players have been specific, and I want to know why. Well, I think I know why...because if there were to be specific about what they don't like we will view them for they are being right now...whiney little ****suckers... |
I had enough of him and now I hope we resign him so we can cut him. I hate when these players say that they have the fans behind them.
|
I do think he was over verbal about what happened, but how else to you get football starve - crazed fans who don't even give a **** what this is all about not to attack the players about getting back on the field after they have heard that the deal is done. The deal was never done the owners made a tactical move that the players just weren't ready for they waited until the very last hour, and all signed there agreement to ratify the proposal, NOT TO RATIFY THE DEAL. Then they celebrated it with the media, then 4 hours later the NFLPA was given a 500 page document to look over and given an altimatum for a date in which to reform the union.
If you have ever been in a labor dispute you would know how disrespectful that is. Heath, Takeo Spikes, and other player reps do have a lot at stake not so much for themselves, but for the players they represent as well as former and future players. It's like buying a used car in NEW ORLEANS with no car fax history report!!!!!!! LOL |
Sounds like he is trying to act like he is somebody... but he is a no body who is going to be swept into obscurity when the season finally starts. He's done.
|
Looks like according to his salary numbers, we got screwed on that one.

At the very least his statements are hypocritical, no? But at any rate, all I'm really trying to say to Heath is that, you know, hey, you've made a TON of money off the NFL - the owners AND the fans, so your wife and 7 year old can shop at Macys and Nordstroms. You've averaged over SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR for the last decade. You work for somebody. You don't OWN a damn thing, and you're still not happy? Don't feed me this "real fans need to know bs". I am a 'real' fan. I know. I know I can hardly afford to take my family to a game. He feels real bad about losing the Hall of Fame game. No, he doesn't. Not a single player does. They want MORE for less output, period. At some point enough is enough. :brood: |
I don't understand the feelings toward Heath Evans that I'm reading here. He isn't fighting for more money for him. He is fighting for a better life for not just him but for all the players including the ones that make the league minimum. I'm not upset in the least. The owners are business men who are used to dirty or underhanded business dealings. They tried to pull a fast one but thanks to people like Heath it ain't happening.
We'll have football and I want him back in the black and gold. |

Screw him. I know precisely what's going on - as much as anyone can know who isn't directly involved...as much as I 'can' know. What I know: The players are well paid The players were well paid with the old agreement The players will be well paid with the new agreement The players will work less with the new agreement The players will make more with the new agreement The players, current and former, will be better taken care of, much better in many ways, with the new agreement Here's what else I know. I know that what they don't like about what the owners have ratified has everything to do with a strategy they are already building up for the next CBA. What else I know is, in spite of Heath and other players saying they are truly sorry that the HOF game was cancelled, the truth is they don't give a damn. They won't care one iota right up until they start missing game checks. They don't care about Canton They don't care about the Vendors They don't care about the people who have already lost their jobs because of this mess Heath needs to take his wife and daughter to Macys and Nordstrom this weekend. THAT'S what Heath cares about at the end of the day. Screw him. |

It really had nothing to do with players, it was some sort of revenue sharing pot ( a safety stash so to speak) the owners added to help the small market teams compete with the big market teams. Didn't hear it all but it seemed like a whole lot to do about nothing. EDIT: Just listened to the whole thing. WTF is the fuss all about? He doesn't sound upset at all and every thing he said was logical and very level headed, well except that war eagle crap at the end. He sounds no different than every other player who's opened his mouth about this negotiaton. |

He's good at keeping his name in the news though. |

It seems that you're taking it a little too personally. He's just another guy "fighting for the cause". So what?
I actually like Evans. It seems that he's a leader and a bright player. He's had some great moments as a fullback for the Saints. I hate this lockout. It's keeping us from talking about football. |

But yes, it became personal to me the instant they cancelled the HOF game. Not so much because I linger around all summer waiting on the HOF game. I don't. Rather it was because I know in my heart they simple do not care. And I guess Heath was wrong about all this "illegal" stuff he said they owners tried to slip in? Sure looks like it... |
I stopped listening to pretty much anything he says, b/c of his
constant Bible thumping on his Twitter acct. Tiresome. Almost as tiresome as Reggie Bush's total inability to use the English language. What do the they teach those people at USC, anyway? It ain't* English. It ain't accounting. It apparently ain't even FOOTBALL. So, WHAT IS IT?!? *Gratuitous use of "ain't" intended as Southern irony. ; ) |
From a football perspective - I'd rather have a Brian Leonard (CIN) or Korey Hall (GB)...
Postconcussion syndrome is affecting Evans... |

Just sounded to me like the guy wanted to be proceed with caution. There was nothing malicious in the tone of his voice. I don't think he mention one thing negative about his salary. This guy even went as far as to say he didn't think there was much more to work out. He was just concerned out the forced time line. It's easy for me to see why someone on the end of a contract negotiation that only been agreed upon by the other side would be alarmed.
HEATH...Do not voice your opinion. If we want that we'll voice it here for YOU !!!!....LOL |

If you open your mouth and stupid stuff comes out you are open to critique. He was a blowhard through the whole thing. I just thought it would be interesting to see how much he's made and to openly ponder what it is, specifically, that he was *****ing about...he was never specific.
