No big loss, although I thought he was good on ST, I think

saintsfan1976 07-27-2011 07:41 AM

Take him.

Speedy Ron 07-27-2011 08:01 AM

wouldnt hurt my feelings. decent backup but no game changer

Danno 07-27-2011 08:08 AM

1. Solid backup at both safety spots
2. Very good special teams player
3. Only in his 2nd year at safety
4. Isn't very expensive
5. We are very thin at safety

We'd be wise to try to keep him at a reasonable salary.

boonedocksaint 07-27-2011 08:46 AM

haha. who cares!?

JoanieNTX 07-27-2011 10:46 AM

Stoopid Browns.....diggin' around in our backyard all the time now, it seems!

Good luck Mr. Young. Take the money and chance to play and run with it. I personally wish the Saints could keep Hargrove. He's motivated and intent on playing his natural DE position. I personally believe he could be as if not more productive than way over-paid W. Smith. Out of all the the Saints FA's, I personally would sign away Strief. I believe he can be a very productive RT in the NFL.

Couldn't agree more. Don't think we've seen the best of Usama Young yet.

SaintsBro 07-27-2011 03:33 PM

got beat by Garcon on that touchdown in XLIV, and if I remember correctly, it was like, dang, he was only in on that one play, and Peyton Manning spotted it and carved us apart

Wouldn't mind to keep him here, but I get the vibe from him, that Usama is a journeyman type guy. Not really a team-identity or THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE type of guy.

Luda34 07-27-2011 03:35 PM

See you bro

Maverick2299 07-27-2011 03:59 PM

I think one of the Un-drafted S we are going to sign will take his place, also I have a felling saints may get sharper back.

Not only the Super Bowl but the Giants game too and it wasn't even Eli throwing. TD just as soon as he got on the field. Seems like my only memories of the guy are him getting burned. Buh-bye.

He was playing CB then. He's now a FS.

Good Special Team player. But never really got it.

Rugby Saint II 07-27-2011 10:11 PM

Good point Danno. He was playing CB when he was burned so badly. Which is why he's playing safety. He's still learning safety and is good on special teams. He also plays a position we are very thin at. Look how well it worked for Jenkins. That being said I wouldn't miss him.

Sharper looked absolutely horrible last year.
D.S. ain't no D.S. either.

That depends. If we're talking about the 2009 version of Sharper, you are 100% correct.

But if the 2011 version of Sharper looks like the 2010 version, I'll take Usama. Father time may have caught up to Darren.
