PROOF ABOUT SHANLE
|
I think we knew that already...
|

And yes, I'm sure the coaches know a bit more about Shanle than I do. But despite your condescending statement, believe it or not, they get it wrong sometimes...like trading up to draft Antonio Pittman in 2009. That top 10 defense you are so proud of was ranked 16th in yards allowed per game. 13 teams were worse than the Saints (16 better) at yards per carry allowed. In the Seattle playoff game, they allowed a 6.3 YPC average and 150 yards total. So go ahead and let your mind be boggled by the "hate" you see for Shanle here. I would rather have seen the team go a different direction than to rely on a returning 9 year vet to make an impact. |
Yep, you're about 4 hours too late with the proof...

BTW, the Saints had the fourth overall defense last year. Not the 16th. But hey, since you're such a defensive expert as compared to say, Gregg Williams, I'll take your judgement over his. |
@AdamSchefterAdam Schefter
Saints reach agreement with LB Scott Shanle on a two-year, $4 million deal. IMHO, $2mm too much. |

as much as i dont like shanle, he was a backup i wouldnt mind havin him 3-5 games at the most

From NFL.com - Official Site of the National Football League for the 2010 season the saints gave up 112.3 YPG. That is 16th, not 4th. Fourth was San Diego at 93.8 YPG |

Throwing Shanle out because the defense was not great against the run is akin to cutting PT and Ivory because our offensive run game sucked last year. |

yards per carry = rushing |

Regardless, I will stick to my supposition. Blaming Shanle for the team being 16th in rushing defense is retarded. I don't see anybody throwing Vilma or Clark/Dunbar under the bus. |
I'm not "bashing" anyone, I just understood what he was saying and apparently you didn't. No big deal; Shanle is resigned regardless who likes it or not, and more than likely has the starting spot until somebody can take it from him...

Bet we got him cheap.

How can you get re - upped when you absolutely blew it time and again at the OLB starter position! He was exposed, He exposed us, and he gets a new deal!!!! I don't understand |

It's pretty simple. This thread is about Shanle. No one is on Dunbar etc. because the thread isn't about them. |

this my friends, is what i like to call the thread police.... |

And you'll have to forgive me for thinking they know just a tiny bit more about the subject than anybody talking crap on a message board, myself included. Hell, I don't even like Shanle that much but you people are gone off the deep end here. |

Shanle is better than average. His fault is his lack of speed in coverage but to be fair to him he has a few tough TE's to cover. The lack of a pass rush just magnifies his lack of coverage. If the front 4 can start to apply pressure Shanle can be an above average LB.

it is. but since you know so much....englighten me of shanle's endless pool of supposed talent. In your argument, explain to me how he is NOT our worst LB and the fact that he started last year because Casillas got hurt is not a valid point. |

we would be better off putting a shoe out there...the TE might trip on it. |

B. I didn't say he wasn't our worst LB although that is a very debatable point. For the sake of argument, let's say he is....that doesn't mean he's deserving of the ridiculous stuff many here are saying about him. Considering the Saints defense ranked 4th last year with Shanle out there playing the bulk of the snaps, he can't be half as bad as you are saying. C. He was scheduled to start last year on the strong side anyway. Casillas or Dunbar or my grandmother could've won the weak side job and Shanle still would've been out there on the strong side. Maybe if you actually followed what was going on instead of blindly criticizing you would've been aware of that little fact. |
Quote:
b. your right if he was the worst LB he wouldnt be starting. again...this is the scariest thing. c. i stand corrected, he was moved to that side. but he still was the worst defensive player on the field at any given time. but please..tell me what he brings to the table...PLEASE. |

I'll sleep well because Shanle is ours to keep Should he get beat out in training camp I will not shout nor throw a temper tamp Cause I know in my heart he's not the best My GOD will this thread please die a horrible death |
I'm not going to read 9 pages... so I'll just assume that we re-signed Shanle, to which I greet with a hearty "BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

I haven't decided how I feel about this yet.

I'm still wondering who Shawn Peyton is...but, no matter, because today is....

The only Saint Defender that gets prayers is Sammy Knight, beyatch... Our Safety, who art in Nawlins Sammy be thy name Your thunder comes Your pick be done Against Tampa As it was against Green Bay Amen. We still love ya, #29! |

A solid front four would really help ole Scott out BTW. |

Yep! If Shanle doesn't get beat out, then we know what we are working with. Shanle's only real downside is speed. He's just slow. Good heart and good technique...when he gets there. I'm OK with this one.
