Lofa Tatupu?
PFT says Seahawks are about to cut him.
Was once one of the better middle linebackers in football. He's been injury prone but a move to the outside might be just what he needs. A Tatupu-Vilma-Casillas starting trio might not be big but it would be probably the fastest group of linebackers in the league, and with our new and improved DL would have a lot more room to operate. |
ill go for that, Tatupu would be a huge pick up for us at LB. we really need a another big time LB on are team
|
Someone tell Herring to get on the f'n phone! You can't practice, but you can recruit. Get to it!
|
Why do people continue to want to sign somone who plays Vilma's position?
We need OLB's much more than ILB's. Tatupu is 100% an ILB in this league. The dude ran a 4.84 at the combine. Marvin Mitchell is faster than he is. Is the thinking that we really move our pro-bowl MLB to WLB? |

The only one who suggested replacing Vilma is you, and if speed is all it takes to be a great LB then we just move Devery there and all our problems are solved. Why didn't you suggest this sooner? |
Why would they cut him? I think there will be a bit of a bidding war for him. I hope we're the highest bidder.

If Tatupu had double knee surgery in January as reported in the link below.
No thanks. All I have is visions of him spinning the wheel and rehab. Lofa Tatupu - Seattle Seahawks - 2011 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com |

My bad. I didn't realize we were measuring football speed.
Any who... I'm just not that interested in moving him outside, having had double knee surgery, and being responsible for covering TE's down the seam even though he has some of the fastest football speed out there. Curiously though... how much would you be willing to pay him? He's was scheduled to make a little more than 4 million this year and refused to restructure and take a pay cut to remain playing for Pete Carroll of all people. |

You do know what delusional means don't you? Delusional: A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness Somehow I really don't think my response to signing a lifelong MLB (which we already have) and shifting either of them to OLB was "delusional". But then again, if I was delusional I wouldn't recognize that I was delusional, so maybe you have a point.:p |

And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what you or I is interested in, but what the FO thinks. And we'll find that out in time. :) |
No one claimed Vilma a wash-up. He was coming off knee surgery and playing in a 3-4 defense. There were certainly questions about his future and the signing seemed risky but the kid had more upside than anything.

-The guy has been on the decline the past few seasons. -He's coming off double knee surgery. -He runs what one would have to assume in the high 4.8/4.9s now. -Rushing he passer hasn't exactly been his strong suit. Now while he has great football instincts, probably the best word describing him, the odds are stacked against him and it would not appear to be an upgrade starting him on our defense. If he were willing to sign a one year pact to come in here and backup Vilma, while rebuilding some value for the following season, sign me up. |

We were talking about bringing in Tatupu and moving him to OLB. This resulted in you saying... Quote:
Our Pro-Bowl MLB is Jon Vilma. When we suggested moving Tatupu to OLB, what we meant was moving Tatupu to OLB. See, if we were talking about moving Vilma to OLB, we would have said "Vilma" and not "Tatupu", because Vilma's name is "Vilma", and not "Tatupu". On the other hand, Tatupu's name IS "Tatupu". So when you hear us say "Tatupu", we are referring to Tatupu, and not Vilma. So, in summary, when we say "Move Tatupu to OLB" that is not a suggestion that we move Vilma to OLB in any way, shape, or form. That's all I'm saying. |
I'm not sure we can even get him, he got cut for not taking a pay cut. He wants alot of money. I think the broncos will make a push for him. But when he plays he can cause disruptions.
|
I've read a couple of places that the Raiders are looking at him to backup McClain... and he may get a look in Philly as well.
|
Isn't it like asking Vilma to play in a 3-4 which he hated and didn't do well in and then you put him in his natural position in a 4-3 and he is a Pro Bowler.
No I don't think we need another player who wants to play only for the money. I mean I get it but that isn't us... our team seems to want players who want to play. Maybe looking for a second or new life in football. Signing players who want money is not on the agenda here... |
lofa lapupu is washed up. i just dont like the idea of picking up a guy who is on the decline of their career. 3/4 years ago...id love it. we have more intersting prospects at that positions.

He is now with the Raiders
