DT Turk McBride signs
Saints agreed to terms with DE Turk McBride, formerly of the Lions.
The 26-year-old McBride can play both end and tackle, and he recorded career highs in sacks (5) and forced fumbles (3) as an eight-game starter in Detroit last season. The signing makes it increasingly unlikely that the Saints will be able to afford bringing back Alex Brown. They have Will Smith, rookie Cam Jordan, McBride, and promising rush specialist Junior Galette at end. Well I don't know anything about him. But so glad we are still pulling in people for GW to work with. They must see something in him.

Can't miss what you never had ....Alex Brown I was hoping he was going to do great thing last year.. Yup didn't
|
The dude did have sacks against some pretty elusive QB's last year, considering he tallied sacks on Aaron Rodgers, Michael Vick and Jay Cutler (probably multiples on Cutler because of the overly porous Bears' offensive line last year). He recorded a total of 5 sacks just last season. Not too bad for only having started 8 of their 16 games last year. Just saying...

Sounds like a nice pickup from what can be read about him. Especially important to build depth to be able to handle the first 4 weeks without W Smith. How will this affect Charleston?

...don't forget he played along side Suh last year ... I am sure it was a factor in his production.

Youth for the DL? Turk McBride at 26, i like this signing.
Turk for the first time has played one position for a few years straight. The knock on him in college besides his size as a DT was his skill set. At Tennessee he was plugged in everywhere. He now has 4 years of coaching at DE so the light may have gone on. Drafted by KC the second round (54th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft Chiefs switched McBride to linebacker after serving primarily as a defensive end in his first two NFL campaigns. Released by the Kansas City Chiefs September 16, 2009 and acquired off waivers by the Detroit Lioin 2009 - Back-up defensive end. Recorded 23 stops (13 solo), 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and four special teams tackles. 2010 - Back-up defensive end. Recorded career high 5.0 sacks, and has 32 tackles, 3 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. The Saints probably knew they could not sign Hardgrove. Could be a very nice pick up. |

Brown may not have shown much but our run game was better and isn't that his specialty?

He played alright tonight!
|
I saw him on a few plays
|
I saw the box score and there were two T. McBride's - Turk and Trumaine. Someone is going to have to change their last name to Ochocinco!
|
Judging from last night, it looks like we have 10 D-linemen that can play NFL ball.
