Asking Price of Umenyiora dropped
Now the asking price for Osi is at a 2nd Rounder as reported by the The Baltimore Sun
The New York Giants have dropped their demand for a first round pick in a trade for defensive end Osi Umenyiora, and he could be obtained for a second, according to a league source. He's worth a second rounder me thinks...
In Mickey we trust.
Honestly i believe that if we were to give the 2nd rounder to the Giants we would have the stronest D Line in the NFL with Will Smith, Shaun Rogers, Sedrick Ellis and Osi with Cam Jordan and Franklin rotating in.
GO MICKEY GO MICKEY
second rounder for a 29 year old proven DE? u have to think about it. and think and think and think
i say they pull the trigger and have the best D Line in the NFL for the next 3 years at least
Thanks man, ive been kinda ghosting on the site for a few days and liked the discussions and difference in opinions so i decide to join. Feels good being a part of this forum
Yea it would be awesome if nobody bites on the second rounder and we get him for a third (even though someone will jump at the 2nd i believe) and it said that the Atlanta Falcons might be pursuing him and i would hate to see him in ATL with Ray Edwards and John Abraham. And yes he lines up as a RDE but im sure he will still feel comfortable on the left and he piled up 48 tackles last year with 12 sacks and he's stilll in his prime. I say we go for it
i know right, they are already crowning themselves kings of the NFC south
How much $$$ would that mean being invested in DL?

On a side note, the Ravens (GM Ozzy Newsome) is a bit concerned about his history with hip and knee injuries. Strato; A. Brown carries a $3mm cap this year. Junnya is just a fraction less! :) |

How can we fit that in, he wants to be repaid!!! thats why he's wanting to leave NY. I say hell yeah if Loomis can figure it out!! Come on Mick, keep swinging baby!!!
I think if we get Osi we have the best D Line in the NFL. Hands down. But if we know Atlanta is going after him WE MUST pursue him! Our defense would be BEAST if this goes the way we all want...

Overrated
Stupid Ignoramus |
I agree with Cutta. Our defense needs all the love it can get and if ATL has got him on radar, we need to intercept. I think Osi would absolutely love to play for the Saints and Gregg W. Who the hell wants to play for Tom Coughlin anymore? http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/smoke.gif This acquisition would just about top the best free agency season we've ever had, and unlike the Eagles, this team would be a team of chemistry, not just a stew of new names to the franchise.
Osi may be going to Seattle where they can afford him...
Don't be surprised to see Tampa Bay jump in... With Will Smith under contract and the investment made in the rookie Jordan, Osi to Saints is a dead end... Alex Brown is solid DE who will make an excellent "rotation" player... |
I bet he could be had for a 3rd. Dishing out large extensions typically plays a big part in these sort of trades... compensation is generally lower.
Besides being able to stop the run this year which more than likely we will.
If a pass rush shows up in New Orleans with our secondary... it will be LIGHTS OUT Defense. Granted the cap woes we will be facing next year will be insane. |
If we can keep him away from the Falcons, I'm all for it. We can worry about next year's salary cap after the Super Bowl Victory Parade.
I don't think its going to happen, with us getting Jordon in the draft and already having Smith. He will most likely go to a team that needs alot of help. Like the Redskins, Bills something who is willing to give up alot.
A 2nd round pick, and a new contract I say ship Will "I loaf my ass off" Smith to St. Louis for a 3rd rd a life time supply of juicy fruit and a 5th. Then give Osi his contract go dump STENCHcomb on someone and sign Gaither to play RT.

Osi wants a new contract. I don't see how we can afford since all the talk leading up to free agency was about how we were right up against the cap. But if it works out...GREAT.
Giants took him off the trading block altogether now.
Well atleast then we don't have to worry about him ending up with the falcons.
Well he still ain't happy, so...
