NFL: Why the New Orleans Saints Won the OffSeason, Not the Philadelphia Eagles

By my very nature I am a cynic, a pessimist, I look for things that don't work rather than those that do. That is the approach I take to the NFL, because each year I find myself noticing that it is the team with the fewest holes that goes home with the Super Bowl ring.
Now that free agency has essentially culminated, the New Orleans Saints have established themselves as that team.
The Saints haven't added any marquee players, but they have brought in some to fix their soft spots. Considering this is a team only a matter of 16 months or so away from a Super Bowl and seven from a playoff appearance, there weren't many to fix.
The winner of free agency isn't the team that signs the best players. The winner of free agency is the team that does the most to set themselves up to win a Super Bowl. Right now, that is the New Orleans Saints.

NFL: Why the New Orleans Saints Won the OffSeason, Not the Philadelphia Eagles | Bleacher Report

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

A great article i hate to see be written. :brood:

some one finally noticed ;)

NOS2SB 08-07-2011 06:17 AM

Awesome, that article got me pumped up.

Saint_LB 08-07-2011 08:12 AM

So...how many games lead does that give us in the standings?

dizzle88 08-07-2011 09:08 AM

"Robinson hasn't been impressive to this point in his career but should improve in his second season....."

To whoever wrote the article, read the bit in bold text.

All corners struggle in their first season, they get beat straight away, give robinson a break, he's in his second season and the word from camp is hes been playing real well since sitting in Tracy Porters starting spot

Great article...

It's the Bleacher Report so hopefully nobody takes it seriously, but it's all true!

Well almost all of it...

However, Rodgers is as talented as most defensive linemen in the league. What he lacks is motivation after being part of a Browns organization for the last few years who were permeated by a losing attitude.

I would think that it is completely the opposite for him, because now he is on a winning team with a great general attitude towards the game.

And when we drafted him nearly everyone agreed he was a bit raw. I think most people knew he'd blossom in his 2nd or even 3rd year in the league.

Williams will get him there mentally, I have no doubt.

yes a grain of salt is used always with them but this time i have to agree. LB addition is all we need now

FireVenturi 08-07-2011 11:04 AM

Finally, I agree with something from the bleacher report, lol.

Manny Lawson or Rocky McIntosh would have been sweet, eh Hagan?

The part about Harper is hilarious...

I just have to laugh at the comments section comparing:
Passing vs. Passing
Running vs. Running

to match up the Saints and Falcons.
Last time I checked, it wasn't Drew Brees that was going to be defending the Atlanta passing game, that is going to be Shaun Rodgers, Sedrick Ellis (maybe even Junyah) and one of the top 5 Secondaries in the League, while Drew has to match up with Ray Edwards, Brent Grimes and John Abraham, and...no one else? With 4 deadly recievers on any play AND a competent running game to fall back on?

Some people need to learn how to compare football teams. And almost all of those people are Falcons fans who think they match up well vs. the Saints this year.

Chase Daniels is a beast. Not that I ever want to see Drew get hurt or retire, but if/when he does, I am totally confident in a Brees-taught Chase Daniels.

Hi Chase!

Boutte 08-07-2011 04:07 PM

He's a homer but I think he's right.

Oh yeah, so silly to compare two offenses. No reason to do that at all, ever. Guess we can't compare two QBs now, because they don't play against each other. Maybe Chase Daniels is actually better than Drew Brees. We'll never know since we can't compare them.

Or, maybe we can compare anyone any way we like and you can pop open a big ole can of STFU.

homerj07 08-07-2011 05:24 PM

I believe an LB would be nice also

Euphoria 08-07-2011 05:43 PM

That is about as gay as power rankings. The last time I checked the winners are the one who wins games. We haven't played a game yet.

All 32 teams haven't won a game either. If you don't want to speculate about how good or bad we may be in 2011, then don't open threads speculating about how good or bad we may be in 2011.

EVERYTHING IS ON PAPER RIGHT NOW. WE ALL KNOW THAT.

Crap, it's out the bag now. HA WHO DAT!!
