it's almost like you're hoping we don't make the nfccg or the superbowl just so you can prove your point. reggie was a piece of the puzzle. he wasn't the only reason we had that success.

That's an unfair assessment. I've had Saints season tickets since the 80s. I've seen lots of my heroes come and go. While I appreciate Reggie coming here and contributing in whatever way people think he contributed; I'm a Saints fan, not a Reggie fan.

I'm a fan of Reggie. He was fun to watch play and contributed quite a bit to our Superbowl run. I hope he does well with the Fins. He was great in certain roles, but not in others. He was great coming out of the backfield catching screen or dump offs. I didn't find his special teams performances that great overall. He was wonderful with the trick and off direction plays whether or not he was the one with the ball. He was not an in between the tackles runner and his injury problems really went up when he started trying to prove that he was. Ten yards and then out of bounds was his best contribution. He gained yards and stayed healthy. Sproles can do the things Reggie did, plus can do the between the tackles kind of run. Some of his best years were when he had LT with him. Now he's back with some kick assed feature backs. He could have the kind of year that puts any of Bush's to shame.

Fair enough, but if you re-read your post, it implied that we will win less without him. Like I said, I thought he was piece of the puzzle to our winning. Not as important as Brees or Thomas, IMO, but he was used to the best of his abilities. Now with an improved front 4 on D, and the addition of Ingram and Kreutz on O, I think were in better position now than we were during our 2009 season.

I don't think this topic will ever die until game 8 ,lol., and god help sproles if he gets injured. But I do believe Reggie is the better athlete , and sproles is the better team player. Reggie was always more than we needed for that position, and sproles is a perfect fit for it. Reggie needs to go and experiment with what he is capable of. He should have picked a better team though.
Hes no Jim Brown. I have no idea how good reggie can be , if forced to play 20-40 touches, guess we will find out. But, sproles is a perfect fit for what we do on offense, and known as a perfect team player. Plus sproles is not over kill for the position, like reggie, and maybe has 4 good years left in him with the limited touches he will have. Im perfectly happy to have the little lightning bug on our team. 2011 Fantasy Football: Reggie Bush vs Darren Sproles2011 Fantasy Football: Reggie Bush vs Darren Sproles Can Darren Sproles fill Reggie Bush's shoes with the Saints? Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before. ![]() |
