Yes. Colston is making me nervous. I know he's practicing but the fact that the knee was bothering him to begin with is unsettling.
|
Im thinking we might have to look at WR in the next coming draft. We should be good this year, but Im not worried about Colston. Im worried about RM and DH. Just because your having a good camp doesn't mean your going to have a good season.

Ok I am going to jump in here.
I love Colston, he is a great receiver...but I also think we could use a WR that can really take the top of a defense. Henderson and Meachem are fast cats but...Henderson has drops, Meachem is always hurts and he had some drops last year. He have a good group of WR and I think we will do fine, but we do not have a take a top of a D type WR. |

Late to the party here, but WR should be one of our last concerns. Colston will be OK, and even if he isn't and misses a few weeks, Lance Moore, Jimmy Graham, Robert Meachem, and Devery Henderson provide this offense with plenty of good options. Add in Sproles and a bolstered running game and I don't want us wasting our time looking at wideouts.
And people need to lay off the Devery hate. Dude was fantastic in 2009 when we won the Super Bowl. Last year, for some unknown reason to me, he just didn't see the field much. When he was in there I remember him making big grabs. But I know that he wasn't used nearly as much last year as he was in 2009. The dropped ball thing is way overblown, he's improved his hands since his first few years in the league. |

That scheme does allow good slot WR's to kill you, which Moore did. With the return of our RB's and the emergence of TE Graham, we will destroy that scheme. Teams will have to cheat up, and thats when Devery shines. I look for Devery to put up his 2009 numbers this year. |
Devery does fine when he uses his hands. Its when he reverts back to that arms, wrists, chest, bread-basket trap thing that he gets into trouble. Most receivers don't catch with their hands, but ALL the good one's do, just pay attention. Danno hit it on the head: deep zone play killed Henderson's production and a solid running attack should solve that one. We should always have an eye and ear open for players that can help us get better, be better and stay better, and that includes our wide outs. Loomis, Payton, and GW know poison when they taste it. I trust that if they decide to hire a stanky mudbug, they know how to put some taters and corn in the pot.

I wonder what type of a deal Houshmandzadeh is looking for? He might be a good fit and might be willing to sign a 1-year deal for peanuts to get the opportunity to play for the ring and rejuvenate his career.
At 33 he's not yet over the hill either... but I have to admit that I didn't watch many Ravens' games last season. |
I think we're all a little worried about Colston's health and it doesn't hurt to wonder if the receiving group will be strong enough if he's not available. To that end, we should look at our own wide receivers like Morgan, Billings, etc. to see if they could provide some support. And only bring in an outsider if it really is a great fit. Team Obliterator is NOT a great fit, unless you get fantasy points for dropped passes.
Just be glad we're not like the Falcons and Matt Ryan whose passing game would be pretty much toast if anything were to happen to Roddy White. The jury is out on Julio Jones. |

DeSean Jackson could be available come next off-season if he can't come to turns on a long term deal with the Eagles. With all their acquisitions it might be hard for them to fit him under the cap.
Not that the Saints have a lot of cap room left, but they have their share of 1-year deals that will come off the books. He could make the Saints offense extremely explosive with his speed and big-play ability. |

Jackson as a WR is a little overrated. He is very very fast....but he has more drops then Henderson does.
|
Plus he likes to prematurely celebrate TDs on the 1 yard line.

I started Jackson in my money league. I lost by 3 points. I'll never, ever, forgive him for that. |
I really wish we would have went after Evans.
