All we needed was a 5-man lateral pass for lost yardage, and it would have
been the Keystone Saints all over again. Yikes. I'm so glad it's only
preseason! Definitely lookin' forward to focusing on the Raiders game!!!

strato 08-21-2011 07:39 AM

If the Raiders blow us up like the Texans did..we might have to get suicide hotline involved here...lol

Even if that happens, when the regular season starts we will be 0-0.

papz 08-21-2011 07:54 AM

At long as we're healthy come opening day, I'm not the least bit concerned. I don't know how the Colts are doing this preseason but they are annually one of the most horrible teams during this time.

strato 08-21-2011 08:00 AM

We can sugarcoat this all we want ..but the fundamentals are a big concern to me..if anything i would have rather showed the Texans who the better team was...they were California dreaming out there...i hope G.W chews them a new one this week...he saw this coming on Thursday..and maybe our O-Line coach needs to check himself to...

I know its preseason and this game was about as worthless as a d&%k on the Pope...but if we go to Oakland and look like this ..then its time to lowering our expectations a bit..:bng:

papz 08-21-2011 08:06 AM

Maybe true... those 19-0 people might have to adjust their predictions just a tad.

We could lose to Oakland, the game after that, and Green Bay and I still think we'd be a 10-11 game winner.

strato 08-21-2011 08:11 AM

Yeah im think 10 games would be enough to get us in..maybe this O-line will gel...i sure hope so.

Saint_LB 08-21-2011 08:38 AM

You just can't pay attention to it, strat. You can't really call it any more than what it really is...an exhibition game. You can get a feel for who is talented and who is healthy, but coaches aren't going into the game with winning as their top priority.

An example, of many, is what you will probably see if a team scores with only a few ticks left and the extra point would tie. In preseason, coaches will go for two but would never do that in regular season. They don't want overtime and would rather end the game a loser than to risk going into OT and risking injury.

strato 08-21-2011 08:50 AM

Yeah its the preseason..and that fumble by Drew was not his fault...he was raped...noway to hold onto it with a guy climbing onto you head..lol

Oh, yeah... 1 more thing, strat. I was thinking last night while watching that they looked drained...sluggish. I think it might have been because of that 6 hour bus ride they had to make...right Mike? :)

Like I said before-- (somewhere, I don't remember what thread,)
didn't the Colts lose ALL FOUR of their preseason games the year
the went to the Superbowl against us? Preseason really seems
to say JACK about what the real season will be like.

I tend to agree...but the fundamentals should be there preseason or not..thats my biggest concern....I think the first string O actually played good..the batted passed are a concern ...but the Texans will do that a lot this year..i told everyone Watt was a handful..:bng:

Really he's not happy Huh, i would have thought that the piss poor tackling was a good thing. It looked like the 5th quarter in the Seattle game to me.
Don't jump my ass either, I know it's only preseason but you have to make a tackle right? Drew looks off and our line still hasn't gotten it together yet.
Yes you can say we are playing vanilla, were evaluating players I get all that. But come on we can't tackle, or open up some holes?
alright I'm ready.....

hagan714 08-21-2011 10:34 AM

oh well this will get the defense to throw away those press clippings from game 1. that is not a bad thing.
they still are not functioning as unit yet. tricks will be needed not straight forward defense.
glad i am not in that film room after this. no back side containment all night long. blown assignment ect ect ect ect ect ect ect .........
enough humble pie to go around.
i am not talking humble pie with Hot Black Coffee either :p

SaintFanQ 08-21-2011 05:08 PM

What does "playing vanilla" mean?

Bad plays, bad calls - I do think rushing looked good, Morgan looked good, There was some good passing going on...

See, that proves it!! If you lose the preseason games, you can't win the Superbowl. Damn, I knew we should have won that game last night. LOL

Maybe because I fell asleep during the game and missed out on the second half... but we barely blitzed. Besides the bad tackling, this was nothing to hang our heads on.

My definition would be playing basic football...no tricks, no gadgets, no unusual formations.

In other words, if they have something new they are working on in practice, they are not going to show it in a preseason game...especially when you are playing someone you will be seeing again in a few weeks.

SaintFanQ 08-22-2011 04:46 PM

Thanks everyone! Now I understand!
