The Saints Have No Feature Back...
1 Attachment(s)
If you go back and look at the film of New Orleans playing Houston in Saturday’s preseason game, it quickly becomes apparent the Saints don’t have a featured running back. They have three.

Always interesting reading the comments from other people!!

In all honesty....
Mark Ingram is going to be a beast! With the increased carries he'll get at the start of the season he's going to make a big impact! His two TD's were pretty impressive, one ankle breaking TD where he was showing great balance and north and south running His other TD just showing the will and determination to push his way into the endzone over a veteran LB |

When exactly is that? I'm not saying ivory isn't a beast because he's an animal, But until he comes back and shows he can stay healthy I think Ingram is going to do great things, we are certainly lucky to have the talent at RB we have now |
I like Ivory as much as the next fan.
However, the guy hasn't had an injury free season since his days playing for the Redskins in "Pop Warner". Don't get me wrong, the guy CAN ball; but I kringe when I hear it and say it....."When he's healthy". |

What worries me is Ingram was injured too. I hope they all stay healthy. Lord knows we had to fill up a stable full of them last year Apparently Payton's offense pounds Running-backs into the ground. We roll through runningbacks faster than toilet paper at a mexican fiesta tailgate party. :bng: |
That Ivory memory sure is HAUNTING. If he never plays again I'm going to remember his effort forever.

I'm with you Dizzle. I think that Ingram is going to be very good. |
When you geaux to the Saints home games and you see the banner on Poydras as you geaux in or the programs...see which running back is "featured"
|
Either way there will be 8 in the box.

I'm personally very happy with the way things are at the moment - with 3 good RBs who all bring something special to the table. Even Sproles showed flashes of greatness in that Texans game and to be honest, he has been kind of an afterthought in my mind behind PT and Ingram.
Ivory can also prove to be a valuable asset in the coming season. I truly hope that at least one of the 3 guys can stay healthy the whole season, but the chances are not all of them can. If Ivory starts on the PUP for maybe 4-6 weeks, and then steps up fresh for one of the 3 other RBs... it might be just what the Saints need and what they would've needed last season. I'm also optimistic about Ivory in the long-term. If he can work on staying healthier - whether it be by f.e. doing yoga and/or pilates (like discussed on another thread) or by making chances in his running technique and mentality - he can have great success with the Saints or some other team if that's what the future holds for him. Whatever the outcome, I wish all the best for him. |
Ivory secret weapon for later;)
