Saints WR Henderson quietly having good camp
METAIRIE -- Devery Henderson once again works through the early days of Saints training camp with uncertainty surrounding his place on the roster.
And once again, teammates are singing his praises, saying he adds more to the team than meets the eye. "Maybe people have misjudged him," cornerback Jabari Greer said. "He's a player. And we value Devery and what he does for our offense. He has definitely had a big part in our offensive success." The Saints passing game ranked third in the NFL in 2010 a year after finishing fourth in the same category during their Super Bowl season. Henderson is the best WR the Saints have. No idea why trading him or cutting him is ever brought up.

I love Devery too Matt. I also think he makes the roster without question. However, I just can't say he's our best. I give that to Lance Moore.
But you know, that's the thing about our WR Corps..... They all are great at the position. I think each one standsout in his own way and in my humble opinion, that's a darn good thing, that I am proud of. |

1. Colston 2. Moore 3. Meachem 4. Henderson 5. Everyone else. |
But if you are oft injured, like Colston, that drops you - I have Moore as our top WR maybe neck & neck with COlston. I would reaslly like to see them BOTH have monster seasons!

Moore has missed 9 games the last two years. |

he may be stepping it up in camp due to some stand out rookies.

Morgan may be putting his name in the hat as a deep threat.

All of them are the "best" in their own way.
Colston is a great receiver who dominates the middle of the field and the red zone. Henderson spreads the field with his speed. Moore has the best hands and a knack for getting open. Meachum gets better separation on post routes. All together, they make a great receiver group. |

I think Devery got a bad rap for a long time, but has quietly been a steady, solid performer. I really hope he sticks around.

What ever happened to the Saints looking at WR DeAndre Brown? I attend all Southern Miss games and seen this guy play. He has potential but is a prima donna!!! If anyone can get him up to NFL ready it's Brees and the Saints!!! 6'6" guy with 4.4 speed. Rare combo not to at least try out!

If by "bad rap" you mean a well earned reputation for dropping catches, then yes.

Devery has had less than five drops in each of the past two seasons... another Saint receiver has made the top 15 most dropped passes in the NFC list two years in a row. |
Less than 5 drops last year is great. Too bad it corresponds with career low receptions.

That's the great part about being rational. I can change my opinion in response to what is actually going on instead of blindly going "Rah rah rah" like an airheaded cheerleader. I don't understand why I should base my opinion on him off of one season. You get on the Dean's List by making all A's THAT semester. One season of A's doesn't get Devery a lifetime slot on my "Dean's List". |
Isn't this the last year of both Henderson and Meachem's contract's? Maybe it's just one of them... Either way, I think it's pretty clear with the onset of Morgan that one of our deep-threat receivers is going to be on the outs.

Devery is a solid #3 who knows our system. He's been that since the day he showed up. Why can we not be happy with what he brings to the table and understand that's his limit? His penchant for drops is lessening. He still has speed to get seperation and now makes some clutch grabs and is a good teammate. I am content with his body of work and the role we need from him.
Colston is our clear #1. Moore emerged as our #2. Meachem has shown a flash and then disappeared and does not seem to show passion or intent to be a factor. To me this is his make or break season because right now he can't get past Devery into the #3 role. |
