@caplannfl: Saints placed RB Chris Ivory on IR. that should mean that Joique Bell makes the Saints roster.

papz 09-02-2011 08:40 PM

I'm excited for Bell.

Too bad for Ivory but luckily Ingram is more than capable of filling his role. Looks like this will always be the problem with Ivory... he just can't stay healthy.

strato 09-02-2011 08:42 PM

Shame ..Oh well welcome aboard Bell...Ivory get well dude..we need ya next year..for our 3dat!

Thanks for the red BREAKING NEWS thing. I don't know how to do that.

I wonder, why not PUP, which gives us 9 weeks to decide to keep him active or IR him in week 9? What if we lose 3 RB's in the 1st 6 weeks? He could have been insurance.

papz 09-02-2011 08:51 PM

I'm not sure it's an option for you guys... which is probably why when biloxi-indian post something, he always uses NEWS. In order for me to get it on the front page, I have to switch it to BREAKING NEWS.

We probably feel real comfortable with what we have. Let's say he comes back and Bell is playing well, who would we cut? I think it's the best for all parties. He earns his salary while getting the whole season and offseason to get his body right.

IIRC, You can place him on IR at that time.

Yep...gone!

Is there a limit to the amount of players on the PUP? Well nevermind, in the cut list I don't see anyone on it anyways. I see your point... maybe he's hurt more than we realize.

strato 09-02-2011 09:05 PM

I think having Bell made this easier..Like Papz said he needs the time to heal up...was Cobbs IRd also?

papz 09-02-2011 09:10 PM

I got this excerpt off rotoworld.

Ivory reported to training camp still rehabbing last year's Lisfranc fracture, and promptly needed sports hernia surgery. He was eligible for the PUP list after not practicing in August, so it can't be a good sign that the Saints moved to end Ivory's season when they could've reevaluated after a couple of months.

Pretty much what was in Danny's article.

Yup this was an easy decision with Bell's performance. IMO, Bell has looked better than any other RB on the roster at this point. He has a great combination of speed, power, and vision.

Good luck to Chris. I like that bruising style, but it's a hard-sell in the NFL.

strato 09-02-2011 09:14 PM

I agree Bell has been the best RB so far...i hope he stays healthy as well..catches good out of the backfield and picks up blocks good..good player all the way around..I know Eddie George was raving about him last night..

73Saint 09-02-2011 09:23 PM

I agree Bell looks good, but he needs to hold on to the damn ball!

strato 09-02-2011 09:25 PM

I think he did ..wasn't it Cobbs who fumbled?

73Saint 09-02-2011 09:29 PM

As I wrote that I second-guessed myself... So, not really sure now. Either way, still needs to hold on to the damn ball!

SaintsBro 09-02-2011 09:50 PM

Bell is fine....It's Ivory that needs to hold on to the football...NEXT year! His fumble vs. the Falcons, was a big momentum changer.

Danno 09-02-2011 10:03 PM

Just read they released Ivory from IR and cut him.

He's been cut and can sign anywhere.

More from @caplannfl: Waived RB Chris Ivory from IR w: injury settlement.

He can now go wherever he wants. But could return to N.O. too.

RT @SaintBrian9: @LHolderCBS wait so that means ivory is gone?

LHolderCBS Larry Holder - Yes.

xan 09-02-2011 10:13 PM

I'm sorry to see an enthusiastic runner like ivory get released. My bet is that no one will pick him up until after week 1, which means no garranteed contract. I hope he plays for buffalo or Kansas city. Someone we don't face.

I'm hearing this might be bad info on Chris Ivory. Think he's actually headed for PUP list. Stay tuned. #Saints.
I give up.

strato 09-02-2011 10:19 PM

No ****..i posted a link from NOLA that says he was waived..i think were getting some bogus news..

Ashley 09-02-2011 10:19 PM

Welcome to the club. I'm just gonna wait till they officially announce the moves tomorrow.

saintfan 09-02-2011 10:23 PM

Yasinkas on ESPN says he's on IR. Who the hell knows...

Danno 09-02-2011 10:29 PM

Caplan now insists his info is correct - Ivory to PUP.

Canal Street Chronicles - For New Orleans Saints Fans

This says PUP as well..

SaintsBro 09-02-2011 10:52 PM

Whether or not he could be put on PUP would depend on whether or not he reported and was in camp -- does anybody know, did he ever make an appearance? I don't remember. If he was in camp, or played in preseason, he can't be on PUP.

Putting him on injured Reserve would mean, he is still a Saint, they can tuck him away, no one else can sign him, but that they probably like what they've seen from Bell a bit better at the moment.

Saintswrath 09-03-2011 06:45 AM

Would have liked to have a Bruiser Back with Ivory but i'd rather backs that know how to stay healthy and are quick to recover from injuries.. Chris was great and i really wanted to see him make it but man.. dude has the Reggie Bush disease with injuries.

homerj07 09-03-2011 08:05 AM

Bell made Ivory redundant. Tey had similar looks & styles.
