Over the past couple of weeks I've heard various members of certain forum suggest that we stop supporting the team in order to get Haslett fired.

How we all wish we could do that.

A major part about being a football fan is that this sport consumes us. It’s the reason we come to nola.com and blackandgold.net everyday and chat on these forums after an 8-8 season.

It's the reason I tell my boss that I can't work on Sundays because of religious reasons (and I never said the word church).

As fans we wish we could turn away form this team. We wish we could wake up one day and have an owner who has some football knowledge. But we all know that it won’t happen.

After an 8-8 season this is the reason we dream up who we're going to draft and who we should sign in free agency. Although we know that our input will have no barring on what the front office decides to do. This is why we are fans.

This is the only sport that would make any man (or woman) feel like the summer is too long.

We are fans.

We can't walk away from this team. We all live regular lives, but at any given free moment of thought we think football, especially Saints football.

That’s why when our team owner dances after an 8-8 season we all are embarrassed, because we are all emotionally connected to this team. I personally would have slapped Benson if I were on the sideline (and we thought Joe Horns antics were embarrassing).

Our coaches can't coach, and our owner probably can't toss a football, yet, we are fans.

There's something special about cheering for the home team. There's something worst about cheering for a struggling home team. Yet, we still cheer.

We hate to admit: but we need this team. The worst part of our football calendar year is the bye week. The most dreaded Sundays of all Sundays. If this team were to relocate we would be emotionally devastated. Could you imagine 17 bye weeks?

As fans we know who we should draft, and who we should pick up through free agency, every team weakness, need, and we know exactly how to fix it.

Next September they'll probably be about 60,000 people in the Superdome fully aware of our teams’ faulty personnel. Fully aware that Haslett is a (the more frequently used) has been, and that the Benson Boogie should be shelved until we as fans approve it.

We are fans, and no twinkle toed owner or has been coach will ever change that.

This is for all those who bleed Black and Gold!!!!
