Saints make final cuts get to 53!
1 Attachment(s)
Saturday afternoon was the deadline and the New Orleans Saints knew they had a lot of decisions to make regarding players that were easy to cut, hard to cut, and extremely difficult to cut. A number of players were already let go, but now it was time to get those last few names and let them know to turn in their black and gold.
Below are the final names that the Saints had to make roster moves with in order to get down to the league-mandate of 53 players for the regular season.

|
So I see Issa Abdul Quddus my personal pick made it...so far good job young man
|
RB we are about as deep as it can get. DB, I'm concerned about depth but I think GW feels he can get decent pressure enough with this group to marginalize that concern.
|
I thought Ramon Humber was cut the other day?
|
I thought De la Puente was a Lightweight Mexican boxer.
|
He's our new backup LG....Im glad Payton doesn't think like you;)
|
My pick made it King

Thrilled for Joique and a few others. Looks like LB is still the weakest spot on the team, but I remain hopeful.
CHAMPIONSHIP! |
A little taken-back by the Prioleu cut. Always thought of him as a decent gunner on special teams.
That's why I aint he boss, I guess... Alaska |
So we have 2 kickers on the final roster again?!
 |
I'm surprised both Prioleu and Reis were let go and we have to new backup safties. I honestly don't know myself, are they thinking upgraded special teams with that move?
|
|
Not diggin' our OL depth.

So Morgan is on IR now? I thought his injury wasn't that bad?

I may be one of few but I actually like Hartley. That said, if Kasay starts clicking, put Hartley on IR and use the roster spot for a football player. |

I'm a little surprised to see us taking two FBs... this hasn't really been a vital part of our offense, and figured we could use another player elsewhere (like TE or DE).

I think it means we plan to run the ball... |

Well in a way yes, but in another no. I've thought all along that Johnson was automatic barring a season ending injury - which the calf isn't - but I think that Miller is a better fit to what the Saints and GW do in that particular position than King is. I have nothing against King and I think that he will develop into a good player with the right tutelage, but he got pushed around pretty bad against the Titans and somehow I see that as a trend which will repeat itself. If I had my way - I'd like to see him slim down a little and move to being a LB like he was in HS (if I remember correctly). He could develop into being a good rushing OLB with the motor he has, and, therefore, I would like to see him signed to the PS while the sturdier Miller could take his spot in the 53 if the Saints plan to keep 5 DTs on the active roster. Hall can play like a TE, which is one of the things I took away from the Titans game. While D. Thomas has been a TE, who can play FB - I think that Hall can be the same vise versa... and more. |

Anyway back to business. de la Puenta did not impress me at all. We do look mighty thin on the O line. And why the hell hasn't Sean brought in a LB'er? Herring is certainly not the answer. And Wilson is just so raw. For some reason I have a feeling that GB is game planning towards attacking the LB'ers. I would. GW did a great job last year with slightly less talent let's see if he can get us back to the Superbowl.:bng: |
