Stats on our D in the last TWO games.

Some of the local fans might have heard this statistic from the local WWL broadcast. (The cajun cannon Bobby Hebert). So this post is for most of us out of state fans here.
I was listening over the internet, when he said this my jaw dropped! Our defense in the last two games played. Seattle and Green Bay, has given up 814 total yards and 83 POINTS!
My God are we improved? WOW that's all I can come up with. I'm not by any means Hating on our Saints, but come on. ??
Like Gregg Williams said before we will look different getting off a bus. (but we still suck)! I like Gregg but he's got to bust those boys and start getting them to tackle, and get it together quick.

This is why I'm so damned upset. I mean it's bad...really REALLY bad. A bad game from time to time, well, it happens. Two very big games. One playoff game and one to open a season...two VERY big non-flushable stink bombs.

My way of thinking:

Yes the defense has been bad as of late; but it does me no good to keep complaining and worrying about it.

There is very little I, as a fan, can do about it...

So I just gotta keep hoping for the best...

Well, you can get hacked off about it. We all have to do our part.

I'm past the "hacked off" stage. I'm leaning more to the bewildered side; I just can't comprehend how we can play so poorly, not with the "so-called" talent we put on the field...

I'm not emotionally invested in the Saints such that whether they win or lose determines my day or week.

As such, I can state without emotion that these stats from the last two games represent a definite trend of regression of the Saints Defense. I will state without emotion that no team with such a defense can accomplish much in the post season.

I love G.W ..but this is not good..if im Payton im kinda thinking i want my money back until we start tackling better...

Like i said Wrap Em Up..there is no way this should be happening...none!..if im Drew i would be in G.Ws face wanting to know WTF is going on..

There is hope but its fading fast..i still think we can get this D playing better...as was stated.. it cant get much worse.

People can say what they wan..t but we do miss Sharpers leadership in the backfield ..that was more than evident last night..

I look at it this way, our offense should have been able to get the 5 and 8 points needs to win those games.

As many have said, the defense was horrible...

But it was a team loss...

Turnover on the first possession...

Kick Return for a touchdown...

First and Goal at the one with the two best guards in the league and an all pro free agent center and a rookie heisman running back...

We had our chances...

Yeah, some guys are still playing good, vilma, jenkins, greer, but as I defensive unit they have completely emploded. robinson needs to move back to nickel and to of the 2nd CB slot he can't cover. porter needs to go back were he was.

omg, Rogers picked on our rookie robinson all day, never saw robinson once in good position before the hike.
GB ran against Will Smiths side most of the time successfully. Having WS there would have helped. Packers are not a good run team, but brilliant at passing. If you can't stop them from running the ball you have a real problem on your hands.
Malcom Jenkins and vilma and greer played pretty well, but the Defense didn't play well at all.

especially sense the GB OL is not that good at like #19 I think.
We were the #7 defense in the NFL before seahawks, then it all went to poo poo.

Not sure what is wrong on defense, last year and I thought we turned a corner, but the seahawks game, and now this one, really has
everyone scratching our heads.

Why do you think that stat is so important?

These are two separate seasons involving different teams, players and circumstances.

Exactly !..coaching...and that worries me more than the players...we need to to what we do best ATTACK...G.W needs to have these guys ready and a game plan to boot..

True it might not be important, but it is what it is. We are supposed to be a better D this year. Saying that we brought in new players, yes some are hurt (johnny patrick) plus a few others. Will Smith is out for two games etc.
Now you can tell me that they have not gelled yet. The point I would like to make is,They still can't tackle period. They didn't do it in the preseason either so don't say it's just one game.
Lets hope they Gregg W. can get this under control or it's going to be a long season if we can't stop the better teams in the league.

homerj07 09-10-2011 09:41 AM

Once again - A single game (or two) does not a seaons make. Hebert was a so-so QB & even worse as an announcer.

Will SMith was out & we still had a chance to win the game.

In the playoffs how banged up was the "O" * the "D".

I can wait a couple of weeks beofre I start freaking out.

CheramieIII 09-10-2011 09:51 AM

but look at the teams we played, oh wait Seattle was 7-9 and they beat us, nevermind!
