Do we have the best offense EVER?
I am very pessimistic when it comes to our team. I hold them to the highest standard and expect the best from them, as I know they are quite capable. Anyone here who knows me knows I am not a homer. That being said, I believe we may just have the best offense to ever hit the field in the NFL. We have absolutely TORCHED 3 of the top defenses in the league and we have done it without Colston. I can only imagine the points we would put up against a crappy defense. I do not think we will play any defenses close to as good as what we have already faced for the rest of the regular season. HOw good do you guys think this offense is? Could it be the best ever?
|
Dude - this is a big change from the start of the 4th quarter!!
We are good. I do not think the best ever. If we start running the ball better I will get back to you!! |

We do not have the best offense ever. It's good...so far. WHY DON"T WE RUN MORE?

Maybe one of our better offenses, but how does anyone measure "best offense ever?" Ever in history of Saints, or ever in history of the NFL?
|
We have a good offense...
|
We know it's better than the Falcons...
|
Well we know the offense has battled 3 VERY good defenses. And the Defenses have battled two of the top offenses. The only average offense we have played was CHI and we whipped them pretty good. GB and HOU are brutal to try to stop!
|
Thought I'd throw this out there. We account for 1/3 of the houston texans opponents, but 2/3 of the points scored against them.

Not even close. Until we address our OT's we will have plenty of room for improvements.
|
We've been really spoiled on offense under the Payton Reign...
But, we couldn't punch it in from the F***ing One (1) Yard Line! Neaux, we gotta lotta room to improve... |
I'll agree we do have a good offense.
|
Doesn't matter how good we are or get, there's always room to improve...

2006 472 attempts for 1761 yards for 19 TDs and 3.7 ypc vs 554 pass attempts 2007 392 attempts for 1466 yards and 14 TDs and 3.7 ypc vs 652 pass attempts 2008 398 attempts for 1594 yards and 20 TDs and 4.0 ypc vs 635 pass attempts 2009 468 attempts for 2106 yards and 21 TDs and 4.5 ypc vs 514 pass attempts 2010 380 attempts for 1519 yards and 9 TDs and 4.0 ypc vs 661 pass attempts We had our most success when rushing attempts were over 450 and pass attempts were under 600 in 2006 (nfc championship game) and 2009 (Super Bowl). Right now we're on pace for 384 rush attempts and 693 pass attempts. That's not our "recipe for success" and it's certainly not what I would call "running the ball." |
Wow, the Saints really do need to get the running game going. If they wind up with 693 passing attempts I can almost guarantee a 7-9 season.

the ol is not built for smash mouth football yet. same old story.
its early yet but i am watching Scott Wedige, C, Northern Illinois Height: 6-4. Weight: 314. Projected 40 Time: 5.18. Projected Round (2012): 4-6. as maybe the next small school OL the saints may want to draft. OT trade up will be need Matt Reynolds, OT, BYU Height: 6-6. Weight: 325. Projected 40 Time: 5.20. but he should be within reach. or try Trevor Olson, OT/G, Northern Illinois Height: 6-6. Weight: 306. Projected 40 Time: 5.20. he will be a four year starter when he enters the draft if you get a chance to watch NIU do it. they have a massive, experienced and a good OL. |
I was hoping to get D.J. Fluker from Alabama, but I just realized that he is a redshirt sophomore. I guess that's unlikely right now.

Brees has been jacking it up pretty good, AGAIN.
We seem to struggle when he goes for +400. An improved running game will even improve our defense. We can't keep giving up that many points and looking for our offense to carry that much weight. The offense is good but I don't think best ever. |
Funny how so many don't believe this to be the best offense ever, but it's the offense under Drew and SP that got the Lombardi
Don't care what the stats say, this is the same team that lost their last three regular season games and won the Super Bowl when everyone else said it couldn't be done. Enjoy the ride and appreciate your quarterback. He's the one that I want in my foxhole.;) |

I don't know about Best Offense Ever, but I do know this ... Brees is proving to be one of the all-time great 4th quarter QB's.
Yesterday's display was just huge. In a 5-WR set for virtually the entire 4th quarter, Drew put the team on his back. Texans had to know it was our 5 receivers running short to medium patterns and Drew taking a short drop and quick release on every single play and they couldn't stop us. Yesterday, Brees got into a zone and it was no fluke. I only can think of 3 QB's - Marino, Elway, Peyton Manning - that could do what Brees did yesterday the way he did it. That's one heck of a Plan B. |
No Running Game Comments....
The reason we have no running game is because for 2 games we were playing from behind. You get rushing yards in close games or games where you are running out the clock. Had we decided to run the ball, we would have lost. Against Chicago, there defense was just that good at stopping the run. Best offense ever? Kurt Warner might have something to say about that. Still, we are good as ever. We have the offense to win any shoot out as long as we don't turn the ball over too much. As far as scoring goes, this week we may not need to score so many points as we choose to run the ball to run the clock out. ;) |

We have a good Offense..with Drew NEVER count us out...
|
We are for sure in the conversation. I think we do need to re-find that balance we had during the SB season. We also need our defense to start a game strong so that we aren't playing a score or two behind early in the game.
I agree, Drew can walk on water. I'd just prefer he gets a break handing it off a little more often. |
