Eagles Leftovers

Four of the Eagles’ 22 starters  CBs Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor, RB Duce Staley and SLB Carlos Emmons  are eligible to become free agents March 3 at 12:01 a.m. Fans in Philadelphia will pine for Andy Reid to spend readily to improve the offense, especially at wide receiver, and patch the secondary. But if the past is any indication, expect Philadelphia to stand pat with modest offers to Vincent and Emmons while adding through the draft and lightly scouring the free-agent list. PFW: Are either of these four core players in the Eagles’ future plans? Reynolds: The Eagles like young CBs Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown, but neither looked like a No. 1 cornerback this season. It would be surprising if the Eagles didn’t retain a top-flight cornerback; either Vincent, Taylor or another free agent. The Saints may be able to get one of those CB's. Carlos Emmons is a good linebacker also. I know that the Saints need a good back up running back but I think that Duce Staley is a "me first team second" player. He's pretty big on self promotion. Besides that, Duce/Duece in the back field? That just looks silly. |
