Darren Sproles

Is quickly becoming one of my favourite players

The announcers for the game got it right, if you have Darren Sproles back there on kickoff returns, I'm comfortable for him to run it out even if he's 9 yards deep, the guy is that good.

He makes the open field moves look effortless and he's a guy that people discount because of his size, he is not afraid to run over someone and you give him a gap and he's gone, he showed that on the toss play TD!

Saint_LB 09-26-2011 04:36 AM

Other than Brees...maybe the best acquisition ever.

hitta 09-26-2011 04:49 AM

For some reason, the Chargers keep making our team better :D They are kind of like our minor league team.

Pete 09-26-2011 05:00 AM

There's no doubt that he's doing some great things already as a Saint! He's quickly erased pretty much all thoughts of Reginald for me.Sproles' is Rollin' man!!A typical sized scatback with short legs is how I see him. That shortness allows him to go undetected for that split second, then poooooff he's flying by everyone!I'm glad he was available for us to replace "that player" we lost.
What was his name again?WHO CARES!

Dear Mickey,
Thank You!

RailBoss 09-26-2011 06:05 AM

Yeah we love San Diego and thank them for their generosity. It's a shame we missed out on LT he's doing a great job for The Jet's. But ok we can't be to greedy.

Bigdawg 09-26-2011 06:57 AM

Always been one of my favorite players. Glad to see a coach using him correctly, alot better then Norv Turner.

Luda34 09-26-2011 07:46 AM

I've always been fan of this guy good to see him in black and gold. Has anyone seeing Roby

Rep for you my friend!

Beastmode 09-26-2011 08:10 AM

I don't feel bad for the Chargers. We have lost so many good players to other teams over the years it's mind boggling.

hagan714 09-26-2011 08:14 AM

mighty mouse has filled more than one major void that bush left sure.

the one void he did not fill is bush's east west dancing yardage.

Ashley 09-26-2011 09:02 AM

More Bang for your Buck!

strato 09-26-2011 09:15 AM

I thought he was the MVP of the game yesterday...along with Drew ...dude is small in person..but he dont shy away from contact..

Mardigras9 09-26-2011 09:24 AM

He has been awesome all year.

BringTheWood 09-26-2011 10:31 AM

He's killing it in fantasy for me. He looked friggin great again, along with Lance.

Uncalled for guys.

mikesaintfan 09-26-2011 11:47 AM

who dat? who dat used to wear #25...who dat...who cares?

reggiedude 09-26-2011 12:04 PM

Bush was out of yesterday's game with a groin injury. I guess this might be his last year playing in the NFL

Seer1 09-26-2011 02:03 PM

Suppose San Diego has any offensive linemen up for grabs?

GAwhodat 09-26-2011 02:57 PM

Sproles is swift as hell. I wonder how he compares to others in the 40yd dash..

papz 09-26-2011 03:12 PM

I believe Reggie is faster than him... sure doesn't look like it though. As soon at the ball touches Sproles' hands, he's going... he's looking for yards. The problem with you know who in the past is that every time he touched the ball, he was looking to score... and that failed miserably.

GAwhodat 09-26-2011 03:17 PM

Papz, I donno Darren sure looks like he could beat Reggie with one leg. LOL.

I googled it and you were right. Sproles has a 4.49 and Reggie a 4.33 in the 40..

saintfan 09-26-2011 03:22 PM

I don't know what his top end is, but his 0-60 is amazing. He's as quick as greased pig snot.

On a track. Game speed in pads I'll say it's closer. And I'll take his brain speed too.

But Sproles has what Reggie didn't. An understanding that you need to run north/south. He has instincts for finding the gaps and lanes or at least processes faster on the field.

I agree - I like the pair. The set would have been awesome!!

neugey 09-26-2011 08:21 PM

Sproles is shiftier ... he makes the subtle cuts to get through tight spots running north/south. Bush is faster, but he's also more deliberate and obvious with his running.

QBREES9 09-26-2011 09:04 PM

Darren Sproles.

Darren Sproles vs. Texans’ defense: While the Texans didn’t blitz as much as you would expect, Sproles still had a great day. He had six receptions for 50 yards and a 30-yard touchdown on a sweep. Again, he has been an impact player for the Saints, a rich-man’s version of Reggie Bush.

Put them in pads and give 'em a football and Sproles outruns Reggie to the endzone.

Reggie seldom outran anyone, Sproles looks like he can do it regularly.

He's better than Reggie Bush, imho.

That would be a poor-man's version of Bush; isn't he costing us less than what we would have had to pay Bush to stay?

GAwhodat 09-27-2011 03:37 AM

I agree I never understood how Reggie was an important part of our offense and we supposingly built our offense around Reggie (per payton). The day he was traded was the best thing we ever did as a team. Sproles is gonna be somebody!! Anytime he gets a return he's a threat at big yardage and/or a TD. He actually makes the kick returns interesting compared to years past.

OK...I'm gonna just write this off as someone exagerating for effect.

Surely you don't think that trading Bush away was more important than signing Brees...as just one example?

They can cough up Hester and then we would have three of a kind.

Sproles knows not to run out in the street in front of that truck...Reggie had to stop and think about it. Sproles hits the creases HARD and can shed arm tackles. Sproles gets his yards quickly and is built with a low center of gravity. Worth every penny.
