Brian de la Puente appreciation thread

I just got done watching a replay of the game and the guy looks like he belongs out there with Nicks and Evans. He more than holds his own.

He consistently stands up his guy and most of the time pushes him back. The Jags have some pretty good DL too.

On the long run by Sproles early in the second half he snapped the ball and took off to the second level, taking out a linebacker which gave Sproles time to hit the corner. On a 6-yard Ingram run earlier in the same drive he singled up on the nose tackle and pushed him back a good 4 yards.

He did get beat for a sack later on but that was partly Charles Brown's fault too.....

I'm no expert but I'd not be surprised if de la Puente is grading out higher than Kreutz.

I like him. Looks like a keeper.

I had to keep checking my roster to see who was on the field. It was a good feeling watching him play.

Good to see DeLaPuente play well in place of Olin Kreutz. I still have to wonder what's up with Matt Tennant though. He was the heir apparent to Goodwin last season, but now is way on the back burner.

Commish- It's a case of "what have you done for me lately?". However, it's a shame to lose your standing to an injury AND better play by a pick-up.

I agree. He's done fantastic.

Filled in well for Olin. Good for him. Jags didn't have 2 pylons at DT either. Two solid guys there and he handled himself well..

ANy way to check out how he has been graded for the last two games?

FinSaint 10-03-2011 08:32 PM

Agreed that he played a solid game, but he did let Posluszny take a free run at Brees at the 4th while stumbling to the ground.

Tennant will get his chance if he continues to work on his technique, but for now, De La Puente looks like a more than adequate replacement for Kreutz.

It's actually kind of funny how much more bigger DLP looks on the field compared to Kreutz even though they don't have a major difference in height/weight.... DLP 6-3/306 vs Kreutz 6-2/292.
