Don't know if I agree with this
|
So, we've got supposedly elite guards who own their share of the line. No one else to brag about.
#74 Jermon Bushrod-below average #73 Jahri Evans-very good #50 Olin Kreutz-undersized underachiever #77 Carl Nicks-very good #71 Charles Brown-penalties are killer Starting at a weak spot at LT every other player is insignificant. It's like trying to build a brick wall with every other brick. |
Might be the guard play is a result of a weak center and tackle position.
|
He's referncing old stats. The Saints are currently at 4.2 YPC ranking 17th.
And Zack Strief hasn't played since week 3. Perhaps a week 3 article with a new date? |
Got to be..
|
I think Bushrod is under rated. He's not a standout but I don't think he's a liability either. He's doing his job pretty well.
|
the read on the recievers not getting seperation like they use to is very true.
|
I don't agree at all, and I don't care when it was written.

O-line is just average.
One of the best passing games in the league, yes. To me, a good O-line can run the ball just as effectively as passing the ball. Not the case with the Saints. We've got the backs to do it, and still not getting it done. Bring this up again when we start consistently grinding out 100-150 each week. |
What happened to Tennant? I thought he was next in line to take over at center?
|
Whats funny is were 13th in rushing ave over 100 yards game..if they could just open some holes...we could be top 5.

He might be..but its DLP time now.. |

seems like the running game is fine as long as we do it more often |
Our constant telegraphing of plays via personnel groupings kills most of our opportunities to run the ball effectively.
As an example, when Sproles is lined up deep, he's expected to be the dump off receiver, which telegraphs pass. All our best runs are student body sweeps using Sproles, because the defense isn't adjusted to that kind of play. When PT or Ingram are in, our overwhelming tendencies are to run, so adjustments are to run blitz, controlling the edges for any (highly unlikely) cutback. Neither PT nor Ingram bounce away from play designed holes, so if the O-Line doesn't create an improbably hole given the defense's reaction to personnel groupings, then we won't run effectively. If we split either out wide like we do Sproles, then we may get more favorable matchups. But we don't so we won't. |

I tend to agree with this Xan..if we can see it coming...then its pretty obvious..i wonder why Sean is getting more predictable..we used to be really hard to dissect ...seems as you say.... personnel tends to dictate our playcalls. I like establishing the run first...but we just have a hard time doing that..our backs get keyed on all the time..i know some is O-Line letting backfield penetration..but i think Ds tend to know when to stack the box or blitz Drew more often than in the past..I dunno just my observation so far.. I wish we would runs some 2 back sets, and send the FB in motion some and use him to help keep the chains moving..remember when Karney was here and we used that to kill Dallas..where did it go..lol |
When is Zack coming back?????
