Jimmy Graham wants Lebron James to play for Saints

Saints TE can tell LeBron a thing or two about the crossover | NFL.com

SmashMouth 10-19-2011 02:37 PM

Sure .... why not?!?!

JoanieNTX 10-19-2011 02:40 PM

Yeah baby! If he can come in and do even close to as well as Graham, I'm for it!!!

Rugby Saint II 10-19-2011 02:53 PM

He needs to learn to run the routes properly. There are plenty of experienced wide receivers that can't even do that. If he can do that I say sure why not?

Crusader 10-19-2011 03:29 PM

I would not like LeBron on the Saints, not after the stunt he pulled leaving Cleveland. And I'm not saying the problem is that he left but how he did it.

The Dude 10-19-2011 03:31 PM

Because we don't have enough players on offense. Bringing James in would be nothing more than a publicity stunt and would be laughable for any organization that does so. I could see a team like Jacksonville bringing him in just to put buts in seats, but any team that is serious about making a run for the Super Bowl would laugh at this idea. We don't need the distraction nor do we need to clear out a roster spot for a guy who cares more about the hype than he does about the team.

lynwood 10-19-2011 05:17 PM

Can he play Defense? The answer is no...in either sport.

jeanpierre 10-19-2011 05:25 PM

Drew needs guys who don't wilt in the fourth...

foreverfan 10-19-2011 06:09 PM

Can he play LB?

You beat me to it. We don't need another project. We need a LB or two.

LBCutta 10-19-2011 07:22 PM

Graham needs to worry about the Colts and not this nonsense...

neugey 10-19-2011 07:47 PM

LeBron is a tool. I'd rather have World Peace.

Have you seen him play? He doesn't need to worry about anything.

Now Greg Williams and his defense they have some worrying to do.

QBREES9 10-19-2011 09:20 PM

LOL I'm on board.

jcp026 10-19-2011 09:33 PM

I'd take him. If he's half as good as Jimmy Graham, he'll still be twice as good as John Gilmore.

Srgt. Hulka 10-19-2011 09:39 PM

LMAO!...no

Belair57 10-19-2011 11:42 PM

we think he forces balls to graham, if we had Lebron......Drew throws 42 passes a game, and they are ALL to the king

strato 10-19-2011 11:55 PM

Let him take Harpers spo....t at SS..6'8 ...he could cover TEs.:)

Cory9289 10-20-2011 01:02 AM

Let him play DE/LB and just blitz then jump to swat the ball down.

trynaBaFan 10-20-2011 02:57 AM

I say stay in the NBA!

MatthewT 10-20-2011 03:15 AM

Heck, I love the idea, and agree with Graham's approach. How about Lebron as a WR? I mean 6"8, I am sure he can run at least a 4.7 40, would be lethal in the red zone. Seriously, the recent history of basketball players transitioning to football has been good. Why not give Lebron a chance if he becomes serious? Can you imagine Drew Brees throwing a high jump ball in the end zone and Lebron comes down with it? That would be way too sick. No defense would be able to stop that for sure.

FinSaint 10-20-2011 04:34 AM

There's no need for him on the offensive side of the game, but as a CB or SS covering TEs...?

Anyway, as stated earlier, the Saints have no need for a media hype player like him. JAX, MIA, or even NYG would be better fits for him as he wouldn't even get the ball in the Saints' offense.

And about his departure from Cleveland... the FO there f'ed him over with all the promises of building a contender team, and year and year those promises were proven as nothing more than hot air. So, while he obviously didn't take the high road - some of the blame should be placed on the Cleveland FO, which was more interested in raking in the profits from the tickets/merch sales Lebron created than spending some of that money to create a good basketball team.

Euphoria 10-20-2011 08:14 AM

If you listen to some people they have you believe there is nothing wrong with our D and what we need is more offense.

With James skill set I can't see him anywhere but offense though.

I love the idea as a WR but you talk about a major learning curve, I am sure he could do it but not over night. You pretty much are going to have to have him try out and see where he fits.

A name like him would attract more players!?!?!

Euphoria 10-20-2011 09:11 AM

Sean Payton likes him some TE's.

There are a lot of 2 TE sets in the offense... James and Jimmy wow.

SaintPauly 10-20-2011 04:14 PM

I wonder how long it took Jimmy Graham to catch a pass, and not have the instinct to try and dribble it........ Seriously!

Papa Voodoo 10-20-2011 05:26 PM

Wouldn't he be a Dolphin?

Saint_LB 10-21-2011 05:47 AM

Oh, yeah...I can see that happening. The guy makes a gazillion dollars playing basketball...and just because he is not getting a paycheck now, he is going to go play a sport that could blow out a number of different body parts in a nanosecond. Yes...that would be brilliant of him to risk all that money on a whim.

It is obviously a tactic to get the owner's attention. I would like to see it happen, though. I mean, it's not going to bother me if he flushes his basketball career down the toilet....might be entertaining to watch.

Mardigras9 10-21-2011 09:08 AM

Lebron is a specimen, no doubt. Not sure he could learn to catch or play D in Pads. It's a fun fantasy, not even a slight reality. Graham worships him, so he thinks he would excel doing anything. Much like us and Drew.

fhotard 10-21-2011 01:14 PM

he should already know how to catch... didn't he play WR in high school?
It would just be a matter of learning the playbook, and proving his talent.

But, having said that, I'm not sure how I'd feel about having him on the Saints roster. I guess it'd be better than facing him on the Panties', Buc's, or Clown's rosters.
Anytime you talk about someone who's name is that big, you have to consider the team chemistry element. I was super worried about Shockey coming to the Saints, but that worked out better than I thought it would.

homerj07 10-22-2011 11:40 AM

Lebron would be a good stunt for a team that needs to put butts in the seats & that is not the Saints!!
