Maybe its time to get Martez on the field..

I was there when he went down against the Texans...he is a beast in person..i think i would like to see him ..Vilma and Casillas in at LB at the same time..

I think this guy is going to be the future at OLB......Im no coach, but has ten times the athletic ability of Shanle...we need that right now..come on G.W put him in!

It couldn't hurt. This Colts game is the perfect time to try it if they are going too. I say why not. At least with these two guys there is a probable upside. We know what we have with Shanle and co. and that aint getting any better. We have absolutely nothing to lose at this point.

Ashley 10-20-2011 05:18 AM

As bad as we want shanle out of the line up. He has to be the best we got, thats the only reason he's still around. I would hope that Martez can beat him out, but it's not going to happen.

Crusader 10-20-2011 06:47 AM

Earn it!

Euphoria 10-20-2011 08:09 AM

Upside is totally overrated.

I can't see why not we got nothing to lose... wait. lol.

me too- he went down early. OK right after that

BIGEASY504 10-20-2011 10:01 AM

The way our LB’s play they’re making Vilma look and at times play below his level. It appears that when Martez/Vilma/Casillas are in the line up we’re active and in position but Shanle is always late, dosen’t blow up the hole when the opportunity is there and is horrible in pass coverage. Dunbar is more than adequate after that it a toss up. Martez/Vilma/Casillas should finish our the season

Oh look! A thinly disguised Shanle-bashing thread!

LOL

One day we won't have to complain about this turd anymore. I look forward to that day.

lol...no..i just think his athleticism would help on the edges where Shanle struggles.

Mardigras9 10-20-2011 11:36 AM

Shanle is the best LB we have.....named Shanle that is.

jcp026 10-20-2011 11:53 AM

ABSOLUTELY! I targeted him in the draft and was shocked when he was there in round 3.

st thomas 10-20-2011 01:08 PM

go back a few post on this thread and read it again why he's not in there .

EARN- IT. no-matter how bad shanle is; why no one is replacing him. i thought someone would have benched him by now.

Rugby Saint II 10-20-2011 01:43 PM

He's probably being worked in slowly so as not to overload him. He's got a ton of upside but he hasn't earned his spot or taken it away from Shanle.

darstep 10-20-2011 02:18 PM

Our front 4 poor play is affecting LB and DB play.
We get nothing form those guys up front, so the next 3 and 4 have to do too much.
Both Smith and Jordan look like they will be OK, that middle group is just lacking.
I thought Wilson was hobbled, but if he's healthy give him some reps with
Vilma, Casillas, and Dunbar. I still think its useless until we get some control front and center.
I don't even know what to say about Ellis so far. I'm just speechless.

saintfan 10-20-2011 02:58 PM

For as much as we complain about the linebackers, and rightfully so, I think you're right. Those linemen we have just aren't getting it done, and it trickles down to everything we try to do on defense.

bbourque5 10-20-2011 03:01 PM

I don't understand how Shaun Rogers doesn't throw people around like rag dolls, He's a freakin monster of a man, I understand offensive lineman are big and strong too, but he looks like the biggest guy on the field every week

Danno 10-20-2011 03:01 PM

Whats truly disheartening is that Sean Payton and Gregg Williams are going to play the best players they have and to yhink otherwise is foolish, so that means that Scott Shanle is still a better linebacker than Martez Wilson.

That's sad and pathetic. I thought by week 7 Martez Wilson and Jonathan Casillas would have banished Shanle to the bench for good.

Maybe Martez still isn't fully healed 100% yet?

Well our coaches are notorious for trying to force players into working. Look at the Reggie Bush experiment. They are hard headed. Im thinking they are holding out hope he will turn it on but its not happening. IF there is any game to take a chance to switch up some LBs this is it. I would also like them just for this week to play Ingram one half exclusively and PT one half to try and see if the problems have anything to do with rythem. Ingram is our leading rusher btw. I didn't notice that until today. Lets have sex. Not together, just in general. With chicks.

Maybe the coaches know he has mental lapses that opposing coaches will spot on film and exploit. Until he's on the same page as everyone else and knows his responsibilities in every situation, he's going to continue to only see spot duty.

We all knew he was a bit raw coming in, which is the only reason he was still available in the 3rd round. He's going to need time to mentally learn how to play NFL defense.

jcp026 10-21-2011 09:16 AM

It's time for Martez to get out there and "play his balls out!" End of discussion.

homerj07 10-22-2011 11:51 AM

Put the best man in....

strato 10-24-2011 09:44 AM
