I don't know...

I think he saw he was having a bad game and not what he has been. Simply way over his head this year... HOW THE HELL DOES A CENTER GET A FALSE START PENALTY, I mean really?!?! You hike the ball to start the dang play.

So if he took offense to a coach giving him crap about it then so be it but as long as he has been I can't see a coach really giving it to him... you know when to respect a guy come on.

I think they were in a position to cut someone with Ivory coming back and honestly it makes good sense. NO WAY he makes the team next year, he is expendable by my calculations.

So to avoid being cut they let him move on on his own accord. He saves face and goes out a little better than being cut his last NFL season.

Should've signed Matt Birk; he's really solid for the Ravens...

When you go through the grind of football for 13 years, especially in the trenches, you are bound to lose some of your desire to play. I know a lot of people are going to argue that he's make a lot of money to have fun or whatever, and quitting isn't being a team player or whatever, but really sometimes doing whats best for the team is doing whats best for yourself. Now someone that is more vibrant and willing can step in.

Sorry, you dont just bail like he did. He could of sat on that bench and at least have given tips to the younger players. He quit, left the team 7 weeks into the season. YOU DONT DO THAT. Shows a lot about his character the way he is bailing on us. So, get the hell out then Olin, good way to end your career buddy...not.

Eh, if he sat on the bench all season, we'd still have to pay him. That cap room can be used for someone else. Staying on the team while remaining benched would be more detrimental to the team than helpful.I don't really see the problem with what he did.

Mardigras9 10-22-2011 06:52 AM

Rather him leave now with no fire then try to linger till the end of the season and potentially get Drew injured. I'm sure it is a hard thing to do for him after a great career, but at least he was honest. Good luck Olin, hope you get whatever your issue is straight.

you think that our backups play like starters? of course they dont. thats why they are backups. DLP wouldve never touched the starting lineup again but kreutz was still battling his mcl injury and lost the mean spirit it takes to play on the line.

you never see linemen smiling on TV because they have to flip that switch and turn into a monster on gameday. once the fuse burns out on that switcg its hard to go back. it happens with everybody on the line

How do you know DLP wouldnt have got playing time?...after the way Kreutz {the starter} was playing..it was a matter of time..Im glad.. Kreutz was done from the start.Im sure some backups never get the chance till an injury..but thats how some of the hard head coaches realize they were wrong..kinda like what happened here..:bng:

how do i know? DLP was playing worse than kreutz. if the coaches were more impressed by DLP then he wouldve remained the starter even after kreutz returned from his concussion.

Again go back and watch...DLP was playing better..i think the coaches gave Kreutz a chance and well.. he blew it...no push except for into Drew..I think he was bench bound and split because of it..all this i lost passion is for the birds...only thing he lost was his starting job..:bng:

Euphoria 10-22-2011 08:58 AM

I look at Kreutz was more of an insurance policy.

Sometimes coaches don't know how a player is going to do in a game and especially during the long season. So they get insurance. Unfortunately the insurance policy wasn't working out.

go back and watch what? the games that i already watched so i come back with the same opinion you have? DLP was our worst run blocker when he was in next to charles brown. the only reason he wasnt our worst pass protector is because brown and bushrod have played abismally the past few games.

he didnt lose his starting job. the only thing that suggests that is a group of fans that are trying to find drama in nothing

The worst?..not at center which is where he is heading...you said earlier the pressure was coming from the outside...and i agree..DLP..did fine with the exception of a few plays.

And he is all we got right now..so you better start warming up to him..lol..

I was there live Canton endzone seats ..so i got a good look when Kreutz initially went down...and then i watched DLP...and thought.. oh no here we go!...but that didnt happen and we went on to beat the Texans...I really find it odd, that our only 2 losses were with Kreuts at center...kinda strange huh..

congrats on going to the game. ive still only ever been to a few preseason games. however watching from home on TV i actually get to see the zoomed in version of tge game. while going to the game offers a better atmosphere, you really dont get a better view of the line

I thought that to...but from the endzone seats...you really mainly see the O-Linemen ..especially when they have their backs to you ..which is when Kreutz happen to go down... the skill players from that view tend to get out of sight once the play starts.

so as the team moves down the field wouldnt everyone move out of sight?

when teams review game films on monday or tuesday you think they watch from the endzones or from the broadcast view?

when the saints played in the hall of fame game i actually got to see the pictures that the QBs are always seen looking at on the sidelines of the previous plays. pics that drew and company actually held in their hands. guess where they were taken from?

Canton don't you think i know that...im just saying in that particular game..i couldn't see the skill players...so i got a good view of the line that day due to seating...and mainly watched them and Drew of course..im well aware of the view from up top or side is better..i would have had those tickets...but they were out of my price range. The line is still very visible..they don't sprint down the field like skill players.

strato 10-22-2011 09:52 AM

Forget seeing Sproles once he gets past the line..lol

Interesting. I buy the part where you say that you are moving toward a more obnoxious online persona, but I disagree about you being right most of the time - especially recently. I have noticed that your posts are not nearly as reasoned as they once were.

Are you becoming a troll?

perhaps i got fed up with the ignorance infecting the forum

the more prominent posters seem to be the least educated and uninformed...no offense to anyone in particular

takin shots at me from acrossed the country leads me to act the same way...i dont have much respect for ppl that do that and its reflected in my posts

welcoming a poster back to the site and showing hospitality goes a long way

homerj07 10-22-2011 10:49 AM

WTF??? Unless there is more to this then they are reporting this is :bs:

halloween 65 10-22-2011 02:29 PM

If we are going to really, really bang the ball, we are going to need a center and a lb. to bang back on the other side. I would bring Bussey to the youth movement he's a bangbacker.

AllSaints 10-22-2011 03:18 PM

You have gone from ignorant and delusional to... Well, nevermind, I guess you are still there.

No Canton, welcoming you back shows duplicity and sarcasm, and neither of those are congruous with hospitality.

BINGO... your our new center

My guess, and that's all any of us have right now is a guess, is that after the Tampa Bay loss, DLP was about to upgrade to a first-row seat and Kreutz thought that 14-years experience was all he would need to remain the starter. DLP beat him out and therefore the quote about not hanging around to collect a paycheck.

Canton, you've got a good eye, and you've been around this board a lot longer than I, but what I've learned is that it's okay to be contrary when speaking your mind as long as you follow up somewhere down the line with a playful post or something that keeps you likable or respectable.

Give "likes" and you'll probably start receiving "likes".

Anyway...

It's GAMEDAY, so it all starts over tonight!!!

the reputation system is the most flawed system in forums. making jokes may make you more likeable but it doesnt offer anything of substance. im all for being friendly when the timing is right but i dont come here to read off color jokes and cat pictures(no offense ff)

all i wanted was saints discussion...there was a lot more of that here at b&g before the rep system became instituted...now its a competition among saints fans to become the most liked

as a coach i know what its like to be both loved and hated at the same time...i dont need a bunch of little squares next to my name to prove ppl agree with me or that im knowledgable about the game...my post history suggests i know enough to open my mouth having to shove my foot in it very often
