Greatest regular season Home game ever!!!!!

Drew demolishes the Colts in the first half!!!! Shawn Payton up in the booth eating hot dogs, chewing on juicy fruit, getting his bum knee rubbed on by sexy ass Saints cheerleaders. This was one of the best regular season games of all time. Right up there with the re-opening of the Superdome game against the Falcons, The Joe Horn cell phone game against the Giants, and the Drown Tom Brady game against the Patriots. Where does this game rank in your greatest regular season games.

Crusader 10-24-2011 08:21 AM

It was a great game no doubt but still IMHO a notch below those games you just mentioned, If Manning would have been playing this would probably have been best ever but with Painter starting it kinda felt like stealing candy from a kid. Manning don't play defence thou...

foreverfan 10-24-2011 08:25 AM

That was the greatest blowout in the Dome but the greatest regular season game was against Atlanta.
To me the rebirth of a franchise was the greatest regular season ever played in the dome.

Euphoria 10-24-2011 08:28 AM

Greatest blow out but not the greatest game.

I don't know if I would even put that in the top 10. I mean we pounced on a team in trouble not beat a great team standing toe to toe with them.

WhoDat!656 10-24-2011 08:45 AM

IMO, the Greatest Game was the total domination of the Patriots.

Don't forget, the Pats had Brady, Moss and Welker, plus a decent run game.

I know it was a road game and we are talking about home games so not really a good comparison, but this one kinda reminded me of when Payton totally dismantled the Cowboys with Karney, the fullback nobody had ever heard of. A similar game, in that the Colts last night were completely out-coached every step of the way. They got SCHOOLED.

Man... who would have thought back in 2005 that the Saints would "school" so many teams. :airguitar:

Someone mentioned this last night in the chat room and it needs to be restated: Drew threw more touchdowns than he had incompletions!

Considering i was able to party with no worries..it ranks pretty HIGH!..:cool:

crawgator 10-24-2011 10:29 AM

Don't get me wrong, the Saints played a great game last night, offense and defense, could do no wrong...But it was against the once mighty Colts, Not just talking about the Peyton Manning Colts here... They looked old they looked confused... Not the same team we played in the Super Bowl..

But back to the topic of Greatest Games... I would say that this one wouldn't even rate in the Top Ten..

the greatest home game ever was in November of 1970 at Tulane Stadium.
sorry, I am biased.

Re-opening of the Superdome game against the Falcons, best regular season home game ever, no question. Only way that one gets beat is Superbowl Victory in 2013 in the Dome.

Euphoria 10-24-2011 12:40 PM

Don't forget the games against the 49ers with our Dome Patrol.
Those were some on the edge of your seats for 60 minutes.

You also have Hakim Dropped the ball.

Oh yeah and that one game I think they called it the Super Bowl.

I don't see this in the top 10. After all the Colts are without their leader and were win less going into the game.

The Superbowl and the NFC Championship Game against the Vikings. I'd rate that game better than the Superbowl win simply because it was a better game. I had 4 heart attacks during that game but the Vikings came to my rescue each time. ;)

I remember thinking... We're in the Superbowl... could we actually win the whole thing? :bng:

The difference is, although we throttled a down team, we beat a team we should have beat, that is not always easy for us.

iceshack149 10-24-2011 01:52 PM

I paused the game at half to grill up salmon and steak for guests and my brother in law asked why I would watch the second half since the Saints were killing the Colts 34-7.

I just looked at him and asked "Seriously?"

homerj07 10-24-2011 08:17 PM

I agree wit whodat - the demolition of the Pats in 09

That and the Dallas whoopin several years back. Both those teams were serious contenders and we crushed them. That was much more satifying than humiliating an 0-6 team.

I would have liked to seen that one live.

My top regular season games attended live:

1. Falcons - Dome Reopening
2. Texans this year - for the magical comeback.
3. Browns '88 - shootout between Bobby Hebert & Bernie Kosar - 2 safeties! (Bruce Clark & Brett Maxie) First time I remember us winning
a season opener.
4. Broncos '88 - Us vs. AFC Champion & Elway. Scary game going into it.
We knocked them snotless (42-3?) and looked Super Bowl bound.
I just remembered that feeling of hope we all had, and the joy driving all the way back to Many, La.

Someone explain to Euph the difference between the regular season and the playoffs.

I do remember this game, also think it was a home game. I thought he would deploy the same type strategy when we played the BOYS in 09 but we lost that one, so it would have to be and 08 home game I think.

Luda34 10-27-2011 11:42 AM

Vikings NFC game greatest game ever

halloween 65 10-27-2011 12:42 PM

I agree with Mardigras9. You could just feel the change in the air and after that night the worm turned for us.

Doesn't matter who they had playing, or not playing. We beat the breaks off them and that's that. No one ever gave us excuses in the past, and still don't now. They (NFL teams), relish any opportunity to do the same to us. They are all professionals, and it goes down as pros vs pros. So who gives a d@mn about how bad they are now.

I could gaurantee you that if Drew were to go down and the Saints lost a game in the same fashion, everyone and their mother would be stating how great the other teams was/is. And how overrated the Saints are/were.

THEY WERE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE, AND IT WAS NO WAY WE WERE GONNA LET THEM OFF THE HOOK!!!
