Over 200 yards rushing
Was that because it was the Colts, DLP, or a mixture?
|
All of it..the FBs played great..and DLP..was going forward that always helps..
|
I would say probably a lot of factors. Ingram ran hard and i really thought he would break 100yds yesterday. I looked a whole lot at DLP and he looks good in there. I liked us bringing in Olin Kreuts (spelling?) but I have to say that it looks like DLP is stronger and moves better, he seems to get better push on his guy when we running the ball.
Amish looked good paving the way too. |
mixture + play calling + group execution = offensive explosion. The Colts have been in position to win all of their games (except game 1). So, a win like this should let the Saints know what they are really capable of. 62pts a game? No...but being able to move the ball down field like they did? No doubt!!!

Brees was on fire. The Colts coverage was not awful either he just made perfect throw after perfect throw. Even the few times they came after him he stepped up and threw a lazer beam. Once that happened the run game started seeing daylight.

That's what the wife and I were screaming all night. Finally, he started stepping through the pressure rather than folding and forceing the throw. Every game is not going to be this smooth, but execution can be. They ran the ball well because passing was perfect and there was a commitment to the run as well. Sean...stay in the booth! :)

Saints ran the ball 36 times. Has to be a new record. Payton should never come back downstairs.
Seriously though, having a lead changes everything, and I do believe DLP brings more strength to the middle. Did anyone else notice how much better PT finishes than Ingram does? Ingram seemed to get hit square in the chest and driven backward at the end of each run. I thought he could have had +130 if he would have broke left or right after breaking the line. He just never did. PT would always finish falling forward with the defenders at his feet. I think Ingram will figure it out in a minute, but til then, PT should be #1. I also hope Ingrams heel is just an aggrevation and he's back soon. No worries, Ivory says he's ready. PT has better vision than Ingram and I'm wondering how SP & staff are missing that. Sproles seems to be shot from a canon when he plants and goes north/south. Everybody else seems to be moving in slow motion. Great effort in the running game. Should continue into St. Louis, then pick up where we left off when Tampa comes to town. |
Offense looked great, Colts are terrible. They gave up in the middle of the 1st.

MIxture.
The only reason we ran it 36 times is becaseu we did not throw a pass the last 17 minutes of the game!! |
the colts are 31st against the run. not only that but we actually mixed the play calling up more. a balanced offense is a successful offense. drew only threw 2 passes that i remember on our openning drive...
im not saying thats how it should be but it clearly works when we are balanced |
