Where has Devery been?

One of my favorite players, but he's had an awfully quiet year. What's happened with him?

Putting up the same numbers he always has.

Currently on pace for about 30-40 catches, 600 yards and 4-5 TD's, which is about what he does every year.

Jimmy happened.

44Champs 10-24-2011 09:08 AM

Danno. I didnt realize that. He usually stands out with some deep catches but i haven't seen him do much of that this year.

Euph - i'm sure that has a lot to do with it too.

Beastmode 10-24-2011 09:17 AM

Jimmy and he is also not 100%. His ankle is bothering him. He's still on pace to have a great season, likely his best. If he pulls in a few long range strikes he could get very close to 1,000 yd season.

When Lance was out he had a couple of 100 yard games in a row then dropped off the map after that. He made a phenomenal catch last night in the endzone but it was ruled out of bounds. I like Devery. He will have his games this year.

Was the beautiful 79 yard touchdown he caught against the Bears not good enough for you.

papz 10-24-2011 10:15 AM

There's so much talent on the field it's hard to get everyone their touches. Scary.

It seems like Drew targets are like this:

1. Colston/Graham
2. Sproles
3. Whoever is open

papz 10-24-2011 10:25 AM

Great to have Colston back in full force.

Saintsfan4ever 10-24-2011 10:57 AM

Devery is known league-wide as a deep threat. 9 times out of 10 they have him covered over the top.
I did notice last night that when Drew threw that 1st TD to Colston, if you'll watch the replay Devery was wide open in the corner of the endzone and seemed like the easier choice. I think Drew purposely targeted Colston last night as a confidence booster to get him back in the mix as the primary target and shake off the cobb webs from the broken collarbone.

I was thinking the same thing last night. I think sometimes we really take him for granted.

With Drew as quarterback, anyone who runs their respective route correctly is open.

Colston being back will play into Henderson's favor.
Going forward that will put him back into more one-on-one situations.
There just are not enough balls to go around each week. Every week will be different.
Depending on the coverages, Henderson will have his day again.

Actually it's his calf. He's been on the injury report for several weeks now. Also it's the new "keep the Saints offense in front of you... don't give up the big play" defense that everyone plays now. So Jimmy and Sproles and Lance are going to get a ton of balls underneath.

Devery is a complimentary player who really steps up when somebody like Colston or Moore isn't playing. IMO he is probably the best #3 receiver in football.

I asked the same question last night while we are on live chat!!
