New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton says there were some advantages to new vantage point

New Orleans SaintsCoach Sean Payton said he will likely have to remain in the upstairs coaching booth on game days until December, depending on how long it takes him to recover from leg surgery. But whenever he gets the green light, he will indeed return to the sideline. "We're not gonna reinvent the head coaching spot on Sundays," Payton said.
However, Payton did say there were some advantages to his new vantage point. He said watching the game from above during Sunday's 62-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts was similar to breaking down tape from the overhead camera on Mondays, where he could better evaluate what was happening everywhere on the field during each play.
For example, Payton said he could tell from above that a particular 1-yard run by tailback Darren Sproles wasn't as bad as it probably looked from the sideline. So he let the offensive coaches know what he saw.
"From up there, you could see that there was room outside, and it was closer than it might have looked if you were on the field," Payton said. "If you were on the field, you might not get back to that running play. (Instead), later we scored with it.
"No different than defensively, (telling coordinator Gregg Williams), 'You're in a real good defense there, we just missed a tackle.'"

That's good news! If he can see things and radio the coordinators on the fly adjustments, he needs to keep his ass up there past December

Mrs. P better send up a plate of celery sticks and carrots to the box next game. Those Chillicheesedogs Sean was woofin down up there won't be helping his rehab when he puts on an extra 15lbs from eating like a horse and not being able to exercise.

It certainly looked like he coached better from the box. After a few more 50+ blowouts, he might decide to stay.

Are you kidding? Chilli Cheese Dogs are the perfect complement to a 60 burger.

Do you want a birds eye view and removed from the excitement of the sideline or do you want to be down there to talk with players? I'm going with the latter.

Maybe once Payton returns to the sideline, Carmichael can go up top so we can maintain that vantage point.

He can stay right there and I'll hoof the Chili Dawgs to the top of the dome everyweek if it means sixty (60) points a game...:D
