Brees, Brady & Rodgers ahead of pace to break Marino's passing record
|
But I only see Rogers & Drew actually keeping the pace. The defensive problems of NE will catch up to Brady
|
Slightly behind Brady’s pace is Drew Brees, who has 2,477 yards in seven games and is on pace for 5,662. Brees is coming off a stunning game against the Colts, when he completed 31 of 35 passes for 325 yards, with five touchdowns and no interceptions. He also passed up an opportunity to pad his stats, coming out of the game late in the third quarter.
I would love to see Drew break the record, then win another Super Bowl. |
Who was it (Colston, Meachem...?) who dropped that last pass in the last play of the last game of the regular season, which would've taken Brees past Marino's record in 2008?
I mean, he only came short 15 yards of the record, and I distinctly remember the last play being a pass, which the WR dropped. Although, I can't remember who it was or if it was more of a bad pass than the fault of the receiver. |

The pass was dropped by Shocky.

The pass was too short intended for Lance Moore and he wasn't expecting it anyway, ball fell short of reaching lance. Would have loved to have seen drew break the record in 08 seen as we didn't have anything else to play for that season
|
I still believe Drew threw that pass into the ground to avoid breaking the record in a non-playoff year.

Thanks all for answering me!
Yeah, I think that I remember that throw now... if I remember correctly Meachem was running a hook route on that same side as the hot receiver and was position in such a way that completing a pass to him would've instantly broken the record, but he was well covered which is why Brees didn't throw it to him. Then I guess Moore - as you guys said - ran a shorter route on the same side, but was surprised by the pass which was also under thrown, also he would've needed to gain some yards after the catch to brake the record. At least, that's how I "remember" it now, but I guess all that could change when somebody states the opposite. |
Funny thing is that Brees could have broke the record if he wasn't trying to win the game with a long pass. The entire middle of the field was open.
