this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Its BS. If you saw the game you'd see Long blowing right past our DE's with hardly any contact at all. What the excuse for that? Some of the calls are opinionated... one's ref hold is can be another borderline ...

Evans and Nicks are both actually guards. They have nothing to do with Chris Long or how bad the tackles were playing. Also, if you pay attention to the article, he says it more effected their run blocking than it did their pass protection. I mean, Long raped our RT (regardless of who it was at the time) the entire game, and did so very legit-like, but that just has absolutely no relevance to what Nicks and Evans were talking about. I would honestly trust two pro-bowl guards who were asked and didn't provoke the conversation, and even then admitted to an overall bad performance, then just pass it off as whining and try to play father to the team ("We should have played better, there is no excuse! we deserved to lose! HMPH!"). They were probably held, it likely affected the score and our performance, and it sucks to think it would've mattered. The game is over, we should have won regardless, life isn't fair. |
