Tracy Porter Hospitalized after neck injury

1 Attachment(s)
Porter was hurt breaking up a pass on the second play from scrimmage of New Orleans' game against Tampa Bay on Sunday. Porter was communicating with teammates and gave a thumbs-up as he was carted from the field.

Porter lay face down and motionless for several seconds after making a hard, low hit on receiver Mike Williams, who appeared to hurt his left leg but later returned to the game.

Soon after the collision, Porter was moving both legs briefly before trainers held him still, carefully turned him on his back, removed his face mask and strapped him to a stretcher

I heard them say during the game that there was no neurological damage.

The Dude 11-06-2011 03:33 PM

I hope he is ok. Anyone know any farther news?

halloween 65 11-06-2011 03:39 PM

I hope he is o.k. also.

Halo 11-06-2011 03:44 PM

Hope he's ok too...

foreverfan 11-06-2011 03:52 PM

Payton said everything was ok.

Saintswrath 11-06-2011 04:10 PM

Seems to be precautionary, if there is no nerve damage he'll probably be back out there after a good hot bath and a heated back/neck massage.

However Porter is known to be a slow healer and might try and stay out as long as he possibly can.

The Dude 11-06-2011 04:56 PM

Robinson got hurt too, which makes us pretty thin at CB. Again.

I hope Sharper is ready....

Saints CB Tracy Porter is back with the team after leaving Sunday's win over the Bucs on a stretcher.

He has full use of his arms and legs after checking out neurologically, and is experiencing soreness in his chest and neck. Porter's status for Week 10 is uncertain, but it's great news that the scary injury isn't more severe.

Yeah where the hell is johnny patrick, I heard good news about him that he was the solid CB with great instincts we've been looking for, I haven't seen him active yet.

Would love to have D sharper play for us again, I would bet any amount that we get turnovers the game he was in on the field. Plus he's like one pick 6 away from the NFL record with rod woodson

OldMaid 11-06-2011 07:32 PM

That is some good news, good sign there.

Best to Porter. Good guy, good player.

Just left a psot on another thread, no rejoice from me if another teams' player is hurt.
I certainly don't want bad vibes/karma coming to our SAINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny you say that. He was on the sideline with a play chart talking to the db's. Something is up. I look for something to be announced this week.

halloween 65 11-06-2011 08:11 PM

I'm glad nothing was bad wrong for the both of them.

I hope so..i dig Sharpers mojo...he can help this team in many ways...sideline or in the game.....take Dennis Allens place

TheDeuce 11-06-2011 09:04 PM

Glad to hear he's doing better, it was a scary moment.

I second the earlier question, where in the world is Johnny Patrick? Is he hurt?

I thought Johnny Patrick was hurt during preseason and was out for the year.

He's on the active roster, and was listed as inactive for todays game. He was hurt but probably not bad enough for the IR so they kept him on. Probably good news and means the coaches saw enough to warrant a roster spot and think he can get healthy at some point during the year. Up until today we were pretty deep at CB. My guess is if PRob or Porter cannot go this week we will see Patrick.

breesfan27 11-06-2011 11:53 PM

Thank goodness Porter is ok. That was a scary hit. I was literally speechless the entire time he was laying on the turf.

As much as I hate our rival teams, I would never wish an injury on any of them. Karma has a way of coming back on people who do that.

Seems like this whole thing was just a bunch of precautionary stuff. Better safe than sorry though. Glad he seems to be OK.

Srgt. Hulka 11-07-2011 12:47 AM

I didn't see the injury, but it sounds like it looked pretty scary there for a while. Glad Porter is doing ok.

95shakinpf 11-07-2011 04:51 AM

I figured he just had his bell rung! He got up momentarily after the hit then went back down. Im sure he'll be fine.

NOS2SB 11-07-2011 05:11 AM

I just wish he would have broke Mike Williams leg.

skymike 11-07-2011 06:28 AM

(I didnt see the hit, as we were in the crowd, who couldnt get in because of the heightened security.)

Good to hear Porter's ok. I saw his legs moving, but then the took a lot of time preparing to move him, so it was pretty scary. Then when they were carting him off, I was hoping he's give some sort of thumbs up, but he didnt move anything going off the field.

I like the way Romig announced, "From Port Allen, Louisiana, Tracey Porter..."

Get better fast, #22!

On TV they showed him going off the field on the cart, fist pumping and giving a thumbs up to the crowd and his teammates.

The other corners stepped up in his place.

QBREES9 11-07-2011 08:54 AM

Have we sign Sharper yet !

That's not cool man. I wouldn't wish that on any of our receivers so I don't think it's cool to wish it on another teams players.

With that said, get well 22, we need ya down the stretch!!!

st thomas 11-07-2011 10:37 AM

man i was so worried bout tracy and a bad injury. it looked like a clean hi- tech tackle, then in an instant he goes down and your thinking head injury, concussion. get back soon dogg.

homerj07 11-07-2011 11:16 AM

He got up after the hit & then he went to a knee & from there to the gorund, so... Is that a good isgn or a bad one?? Is it shoulder or neck??

yep, you're right. I saw it on the highlights today.

I couldnt see it from my angle in the Terrace... you know, when they get really close to the exit, you cant see where I am. Surprised they didnt show it on the big screen.

Glad to know he's ok.

foreverfan 11-07-2011 06:52 PM

Actually I didn't think much of the hit. It didn't look that bad. I've see countless hits that look worse that people get up from. He didn't even lead with his head.
